You know you're doing something right on the internet when practically every site you open has a Cloudflare capcha and locates you in a different area. Thanks #Brave browser, JShelter extension, and ProtonVPN @proton.me I'm not doing anything illegal or immoral. I just don't want to be tracked.

After taking transit to the Cubs game at Wrigley yesterday, I have thoughts. The cta red line was extremely crowded (unsurprising) but had extra staff & a steady stream of trains. Meanwhile, the #80 Irving Park bus was held up in traffic causing massive delays. #cta @atalliance.bsky.social #chicago

Now why doesn't the #cta have a priority bus lane here and in other high-traffic areas? Why should cars have the same or better right of way? Fact: More people would take the bus if it were better! #transit #publictransit

I'm here (unfortunately briefly), but just heard an excellent statement: People from other Illinois cities need access to Chicago. Yes, Chicago needs funds itself, but the whole state also needs to be connected to the "big city." #transit #Chicago #Illinois @atalliance.bsky.social

At the public hearing on the transit fiscal cliff, IL state legislators are hearing from people who depend on public transportation. We must not only save but expand transit in the Chicago region for our long term future. #fixitfundit

I have a conflict, but hopefully you can make it!

2. ECONOMIC BLACKOUT. We support the economic boycott occurring this Friday, Feb. 28, of any entity that has dismantled their DEI programs and pandered to this administration. The buck will stop with us!

I'm really upset my alderperson, Ruth Cruz, voted nay. She personally told me oh the phone she supported it! I miss living in the 35th Ward @carlosrosa.bsky.social despite Carlos' decisions on Milwaukee Ave protected bike lanes. Still, the 35th is way better about bike & pedestrian safety.

Map: Who voted for 25 mph ordinance? -Basically all alders in NE quadrant of city, plus some parts of SW and S sides -All 7 current or ex-DSA members Who voted against it? -Most Black Caucus members -All alders representing Trump-friendly wards chi.streetsblog.org/2025/02/20/h... @stevevance.net

Just to follow up, in her newsletter came a defense 1/2: "...after speaking with CDOT’s Commissioner, it became clear that additional time was needed to ensure the state, county, and city were aligned on implementation." The goal of this ordinance is to slow drivers down..."

3/3 "and making sure any changes are implemented effectively and equitably." Still, seems like the implementation could be worked out after it's made law. Now, it's been rejected and may never get implemented, leaving pedestrians and bicyclists at risk, never mind giving drivers top priority.

2/3 "...yet we were rushing to pass it without fully considering its impact. My vote was not against lowering speed limits but rather in favor of taking the time to ensure we get it right—evaluating all factors, addressing concerns from all sides..."

Meta is making big changes to hiring practices, sources told me and @mikeisaac.bsky.social - no more teams devoted to Diversity, Equity and Inclusion - no diversity preference for working with outside minority owned supplier businesses - no goals for hiring women and minorities

You are up to date.
