Owen Wilson: laid-back comic charmer… or convincing action hero? On the new Exploding Helicopter podcast, we review No Escape – the surprisingly brutal, relentlessly tense thriller that lets Wilson bludgeon a man to death without apologising first. Listen wherever you get your podcasts 🚁💥📽️🎧

We got one! ATTACK OF THE KILLER TOMATOES: ORGANIC INTELLIGENCE (2026) becomes the 9️⃣7️⃣4️⃣th film we've found with an exploding helicopter. It's also the 1️⃣3️⃣th film Eric Roberts has made with a helicopter explosion - the 4️⃣th highest total of any actor. Thanks to @thewykah.bsky.social for the tip-off!

Watched WAR DOG (1987). This action flick was made in Sweden but is pretending to be American, with sometimes amusing results. We're definitely in 'so bad it's good' territory here. But the OTT blood squibs and explosions are as good as anything from this era.

Watched STREET PEOPLE (1976) Roger Moore's mob lawyer teams up with his racing car driver buddy Stacy Keach to track down a drug shipment. Not a lot makes sense, but the Moore/Keach double act is great and there's enough car chases and gun fights to paper over the narrative cracks.

Watched NIGHTS OF CABIRIA (1957) I'm beginning to fear that my search for an exploding helicopter in Federico Fellini's filmography may prove fruitless... Still, a fine watch. I'm trying to imagine what it must have been like to watch a film about a happy-go-lucky prostitute in Britain in '57.

PSA: you can all save yourself a trip to the cinema…

@chopperfireball.bsky.social thought you’d appreciate a #LFF report. Just out of a screening of Possible Love (2026), a Korean film that explores class divides, dealing with trauma, and responsibilities of filmmaking. Possible exploding helicopter? No.

Check out our new review. This time we're taking a look at NO ESCAPE (2015) a film where we get to see the ever lovable Owen Wilson... beat a man to death with his bare hands. Yikes! We also assess the exploding helicopter action and we have issues. www.explodinghelicopter.com/2026/10/no-e...

This was a fun listen.

Remember DOMESTIC DISTURBANCE? No? It was a Hitchcockian thriller from 2001 starring John Travolta, Vince Vaughan and - you got it - Steve Buscemi! Now we're talking about it on our Steve Buscemi podcast. It's a simple proposition! ENJOY!

Watched NIGHT OF THE BIG HEAT (1967) tepid alien invasion thriller. The low budget means action is largely confined to a pub where the cast greet ET's arrival by knocking back lager and whiskey. It's pretty boring, but Jane Merrow raises the temperature by rubbing ice cubes over herself. Awooga!

Fun fact: Colonel Sanders (yes, that one) has appeared in more films with an exploding helicopter than Al Pacino. The fried chicken king briefly appeared in HELL'S BLOODY DEVILS (1970) which features a chopper fireball. Meanwhile, Al Pacino has yet to make a film to interest us...

Friends, I penned a review of Strategic Command for @bulletproofpod.bsky.social latest Michael Dudikoff tribute. Check out my piece and see where the film ranked in the Dude's post Cannon output.

Watched FOR THE LOVE OF BENJI (1977) 'Benji' is the best dog actor I've ever seen. The canine Marlon Brando. And given that Benji can only bark, he's about as easy to understand as the great method mumbler himself.

Friends, I recently guested on the True Bromance Podcast to discuss the modern classic and film that many people [ok, just me] are calling the "thinking man's Heat", DEN OF THIEVES. Do yourself a solid and make sure you check it out.
