I won this Clayface (horror) movie poster at trivia. Didn't want it in my apartment (big red flag). So I hung it outside a colleague's (Alan Lambert's) lab without telling him. We'll see if he notices. To throw people off, I wrote this fake note, making it seem like @jessiesun.bsky.social put it up

I tried deleting Microsoft Teams. I really did. But the peace, calm, and inner contentment I felt without it were too eerie. It felt foreign and unwanted. Don't worry. I'm back on the sauce

Today I found my flashdrive in my dryer--it went through a wash and a drying cycle. I plugged it in and saw that files/data were still intact. I've heard of cleaning your data, but this is getting ridiculous.

me & former colleague: we're sticking around for another drink bc we haven't seen each other in years the 2 most boring profs you've ever met: we'll join you

We should institute a conference rule where, when someone asks, "How much time do I have left?" The answer is always 30 seconds, regardless of how much time has passed.

We've been running studies of friend groups. Lots of fun, mostly because friend groups can be so varied and different (and sometimes the same). For example, here's a group of four friends that I showed during my talk today. Their accomplishments are all very similar and equally impressive

In 46,000 people, people's desire for close friends ("I often wish I had more good friends") declines across life. Recent cohorts of younger people desire fewer and fewer good friends. But they otherwise follow the same trajectory. I wonder what people born in the 2000s will look like some day.

Hey everyone, I'm struggling to pay an APC for my Frontiers article titled "Predatory Open Access Publishers are the Death Knell for Modern Scientists." If you could contribute to my GoFundMe, I'd really appreciate it. If not, that's okay. I can just post a preprint or something.

"Excellent prompt! Here's a post you can use for your discussion board. Let me know if you want it to sound more formal or reference made-up sources about how the sky is blue" -ChatGPT

Here at Elsevier, we understand how long the review process takes. You toil for years on a project, then a retracted review process. That's why, and we swear to God, if you don't return proofs within 48 hours, this kitten will get it. We need to start making money off you ASAP. Get with the program.

Hi, I'd like to apply for the lifetime achievement award. Although my chronological age would seemingly render me ineligible, my biological age? Firmly in the eligibility window. How old do I feel (subjective age)? I'm at death's door. Thank you for your consideration

Listen, you may have the impression that Michigan cheated to win a football game. As a Michigan grad, I just want to say this: Yeah, you're probably right. I mean, we cheat all the time. What? You think we're good at football with all the money we spend? Do you hear yourself? Get a grip.

I am having a particularly frustrating week, so here’s one of the best things I’ve ever done. The eruption of Sarychev Peak in the Aleutian Islands, seen by the crew of the space station. www.nasa.gov/image-articl...
