I was thinking the same here. I’m not sure Burnham has the appeal to hold onto the unexpected southern England seats from 2024. But Labour don’t need to win Poole to win the next election. Holding onto London seats as well as say Portsmouth, Reading and Oxford could be enough
Finally, thought this was interesting and encouraging for Burnham - a safe seat yes but a London one and no sign many people here interpret him as anti-London, esp Labour electoral coalition.
So the Tories are in favour of the State telling private companies how they should run their business. Interesting 🤔
Helen Whateley explaining the Conservative's latest policy idea of restricting purchases of cigarettes and alcohol for people on benefits on #BBCQT "Supermarkets can have a code which stops people from purchasing a particular (item)" then cites "Aspen cards used by failed asylum seekers"
This probably wasn’t the result Wes wanted but I think there’s a lot of truth behind it. It’s certainly not hard to attribute the hatred coming from my generation and those older to undiagnosed mental health issues when they were younger

Barclays staff have it better than many companies. The point is too many people are commuting. Our transport cannot cope. These companies are only giving 2% annual raises. It’s only right if they expect staff to spend time and money commuting, they should be compensated www.bbc.co.uk/news/article...
Cynics will say why suddenly a problem now it’s middle class graduate jobs rather than working class industrial jobs but that’s a rather lazy narrative. Two wrongs don’t make a right either Lewis is correct this is a crisis. The C-Suite class might enjoy the perks of extreme capitalism now (1/2)
This will be a national crisis- adding to the profound generational inequities which already bedevil Britain. Working class kids have long not had the support they needed as the mass employment industrial world disappeared. Will we repeat the mistake with graduates? www.bbc.co.uk/news/article...
I think it would be helpful for politicians, including the PM to call out misleading media angles on this. Obviously GB News but the BBC are culpable too It won’t convince the hardcore gammons but it might encourage a bit of fact checking before media blindly report Reform’s agenda
PM has given an interview to GB News: he believes can reduce boats. Can't pledge to end by 2029 The channel has invented a misleading stat to show crossings are rising when they are falling 40% year: average/day under Burnham (July/Aug) vs Starmer (all year round) www.gbnews.com/politics/and...
Fair enough I guess if you turn up at fan parks and know what to expect. I really don’t think it’s fair for ordinary fans to take a pint for the team if they allow drinking at your seat in stadiums www.theguardian.com/football/202...
The ICC, BCCI and the Modi Regime are basically the same entity and also very sore losers It’s no coincidence this non-story has appeared just after England humiliated India in the T20 www.bbc.co.uk/sport/cricke...
Those inclined can see the 76 data here. The 2+ week period at end of June and early July is obviously exceptional There were long periods of pleasant low to mid 20s temps too. Bear in mind this is the deniers favourite location Heathrow! en.tutiempo.net/climate/06-1...
