Racist, sexist, ableist scum bag Brian Owendoff endorses @councilorclark.bsky.social @councilorzimmerman.bsky.social and Eli Arnold for Portland City Council. Let's hear a full-throated condemnation of these comments from them. We're waiting... *crickets*

Candace Avalos@candaceavalos.bsky.social

There's nothing I despise more than a bully. Allowing people like Owendoff to spew their vitriol without consequences is to the great detriment of our most vulnerable communities. This is the culture of City Hall that District 1 sent me here to change. We must continue to demand accountability.

Some fucker just asked me to send him pics of my ex and I'm so fucking disgusted! 🤮 If anyone know who this guy is let me know! Between this and the Cornell 57, I'm so disgusted with men at the moment!!!

Her behavior is a combination of Christian Nationalism indoctrination, a manic episode, and a Daddy/Dom-Sub kink.

"Thank you for being my Guardian and Protector in this Life.” White House aide Natalie Harp, whose close relationship with Trump has come under scrutiny, reportedly wrote letters to Trump that bordered on reverent.

Portland (and Oregon) has two types of leftist/progressive politicians: 1. Those who will do the right thing and fight for systemic change, even if it is a losing battle. 2. Those who are "realistic" about change and will avoid doing what is right to hopefully keep their political capital.

I'm at 40lbs Coffee in downtown Portland. Two men started talking about how "impossible it is to be a landlord in the city" and how half the city council "doesn't understand business." I hope my #DSA button and "Anti-Landlord Socialist Club" sticker make them uncomfortable. #socialism

The Portland Police Association is mad they got caught breaking the law. This is because cops do not view themselves as servants of the law but above it.

SometimesPDX@sometimespdx.bsky.social

The cop lobbyists are complaining that a person captured a video of a petitioner they hired committing misconduct and want us to believe it's much worse to document misconduct than to commit the misconduct? They're just mad they got caught and blame other people for their own incompetence.

Can the centrist Portland City Councilors share with us what Keith Wilson’s boots taste like? They refused to pass the ordinance, which would have saved 50 jobs and protected funds used for the police accountability commission.

Hello, Bluesky-ers! Let me introduce myself: I’m Dr. Esther Leon, running for Portland City Council in District 3 this November 3rd. I’m running because we need a reliable advocate who can focus on meeting the needs of the people who make this city run - our workers. A thread…

If Mayor Wilson breaks a 6-6 tie on the Portland City Council vote to fund the Moda Center, I personally begin a recall campaign. That’s a promise. He will be choosing to cut services for a billionaire’s bottom line. Portland deserves a mayor who will put the people over corporate profits.

Some late Friday news: Portland's city hearings office has upheld the land use violation issued against the owner of Portland’s ICE building. That means the city can begin issuing fines against the owners. More soon.

Mitch and DSA councilors represent more than unions. They fight for all workers. Two unions are a small portion of workers, while thousands of others need their public services funded. Portland deserves a deal that doesn't give away millions of taxpayer dollars, while we suffer from austerity.

The politics in Portland are pretty funny right now with the conservative media stuck between trying to advance a narrative of government waste while cheerleading for hundreds of millions of public $$$ to a billionaire to pad his profits and make sporting events more expensive

Portland politics is funny. People can be as radical as they want until they expect institutional change. As soon as you want the system to change (more democracy, more services, less policing, etc.), then you are asking for too much.

The people are tired of centrists on city council and at the State telling us what we can’t do. It’s why they are losing and socialists are winning. Socialists actually want to govern and use our democratic institutions for the good of all people!

. @trimet.org service cuts are a reminder that Oregon’s ruling class does not care about the disabled, minorities, the climate, or working people. They want to pinch their pennies as the planet burns and people suffer. We’re coming for you and your rotten system. #portland #oregon #trimet

Cop 911 response times continue to be slow, Tom Dundon's sweatpants prove how disinterested he is in Portland, and Trump gets slapped down (mostly) by the Supreme Court. Plus, the Mercury's robot Debbie performs a classic movie monologue in the audio version of this edition of Good Morning, News!

I’m unsettled by the Mayor’s newsletter today re: Moda. Rather than acknowledge that there are very real concerns about how this process has unfolded, he chose instead to cast critique as short-sighted and opportunistic in an effort to deflect from the impressive lack of rigor to date on his part.

I’m sorry, but as a resident of the Lloyd/Sullivan’s Gulch area, we do not need to save the Lloyd Center. I agree. It is a monument to capitalism, racism, and an impediment to creating a flourishing walkable neighborhood with thousands of new housing units. #portland #dontsavelloydcenter

I can’t make it to testify on the Lloyd center Wednesday morning (~10AM), but I know some smart people on my bsky feed can and they should. I’ve assembled some thoughts on the topic I wish could be made in person, even if I can’t make it: www.portland.gov/council/agenda

There is a vast amorphous bureaucratic fuckup unfolding at a 55+ low-income building in Portland that recently switched management entities and it is making it more clear than ever that this country/city is like a Bosch painting if you are not rich and that we need social housing yesterday.
