#MeetTheWebcomic The Chronicles of Oro is a fantasy adventure about elves, dragons, people with fluffy animal ears, magic jewels that really want to stick around, monsters that won't stay dead, gods who make big mistakes, and the kids who have to clean up the past's mess. chroniclesoforo.com

EA's closure of BioWare is transparently a vile move to shutter the studio that made by far their queerest titles. In the wake of this, I implore you: MAKE MORE QUEER ART. Make it trans. Make it horny. Make it scary. Make it loving. Make it with every inch of yourself. Flood the world with it!

everyone wants to tell artists what to do and i wish we could shift to telling audiences what to do sometimes. if you liked webcomics that were on tapas, follow somewhere else. learn to use RSS. don't let the seamlessness of apps turn your brain into soup. you can change your habits

Until then, a hot tip from the 90's: Build a bookmark list called "webcomics" Order them by when they update in the week (drag and drop) Read down the list thru week. Add to the list as you find new comics. Can confirm, as a person who struggles with exective disfunction, this is easiest way XD

There's a reason us olds always say to have your own webcomic site and only mirror on hosting sites for extra reach. But I really feel for people whose comics found their audience, or their income, on Tapas. You don't get to choose where your work resonates. Fewer options=bad. Webtoon monopoly=bad.

My webcomic got its start on Tapas. I loved its friendly community, its daily comic feature and more. Unfortunately the pursuit of profit got rid of all that: new ui buried their indie community in favour of signed artists and work, and bizarre changing policies angered some artists who then left.

To the community who gathered on Tapas: our comics will find other homes. Personal websites, comic fury, tumblr, and more. We artists still hope for your support and enthusiasm especially now that one source of our connection to you is disappearing. Hope to see you all around!

As a storyteller, one thing I’d love for people (especially younger ones) to know is that messages in stories do not equal lessons. It’s more like a conversation, I state something I believe and you answer. Respectfully, ideally.

“Lettering is supposed to be invisible” is a little simplistic. If the letterer is doing their job w/ skill, and in harmony w/ the art, it elevates the comic even though you might not register HOW. Bad lettering is more noticeable because it drags the art & writing down with it.

if art is your income: don't monetize everything you create. "wow maybe I can sell this as a comm (feverish passion project that you did for fun)" don't do this. keep somethings for yourself to enjoy

Reminder - Webcomics mostly survive off word of mouth. If you enjoy something then talk about it or recommend it to people. I know we're in an age where rage drives clicks so maybe try to help a creator out by talking about their work.

I'm not the first to say this, but supporting someone's comic career doesn't require money. It can be as simple as giving them a compliment, cheering them on, boosting work that you like or sharing when they're looking for more work. These things are appreciated and make a huge difference.

I want the average webcomic reader to recognize webtoon is merely one oversanitized commercial platform and not the totality of webcomics, and be willing to dig through links pages to find gold.

It's staggering to imagine an alternate reality where the most popular and influential webcomics were beholden to WT or WT style rules. Like it or hate it, Homestuck was a massive influential success and it would have been *gutted* on that platform. WT is not for creatives like webcomics should be

It's my birthday today! 🎉The most awesome gift you can give me is to check out my webcomic Sombulus, which is about magic people trying to unravel the epic mysteries of the gods, and... ...this dynamic. Whatever this dynamic is. sombulus.com

People who go around saying there isn't any webcomics out to read need to find people in webcomic community and get some sweet recs. I know the algorithm online nowadays is borked, but there's a bazillion webcomics out there. I just finished my tenth one of this year. You can do it! Find comics!

If you'd like to help the indie community, support the people over at Comic Fury, Spider Forest, Comic Rocket, Webcomic Library, Webcomic Travelogue, Comix Cleric- and many more. Check out those places for webcomic resources and to keep things creator owned. That was the whole point of webcomics.

You know it's really time to hit the bricks when the realization that you can quit your job soon makes you so relieved that you start drawing again after almost a year away...

I just realized my comic will be 10 years old this August. I really need to get updating again. Gotta throw a 10 year anniversary party that involves new pages to post at LEAST.

RE: Hiveworks stuff, it's become really clear is how much of the toxicity of the leadership came from seeing fellow artists as competition and threats rather than comrades who lift each other up. The world is big enough for all of us. I hope we can work together and fight our real enemy (fascists)
