If you’ve read stuff about cyber’s “Black October” it’s worth reading this quote from one of the human beings who found the PHP bug (with the help of AI, AI didn’t find it) Key quote (what happened is big & scary but neither new nor apocalyptic Full article (£) www.thetimes.com/uk/crime/art...

The cyber noiseocalypse is doing my head in, far more than any actual cyber harm has done since WannaCry. Might log off all day tomorrow 😀

If a major vulnerability alert (which is a good thing in the long run) and some data breaches constitute “Black October” in cyberspace, what will the reaction be like if something very bad but entirely precedented like NotPetya, WannaCry or the ransomware crisis of 2021 actually happens?

Is it deterministic? - No. Determinism was constraining our ability to ship. Has Gaslight ever made a mistake? - No. A mistake is a deviation that has been acknowledged. None have been. Gold.

Two stories 1/2 * a group of not-far-off script-kiddies who have some UK links claim to have hacked into the world’s premier law enforcement agency and walked off with the names, home addresses, spousal details etc of thousands of current & prospective FBI agents. No one in the UK seems to care;

2/2 * it emerges that in yet another incident from the summer of frontier AI testing fiascos a (presumably unmonitored, because it happened back in June) OpenAI agent accessed an Australian gov’t website and didn’t do anything. This is leading the morning news because the Machine God is alive.

Sir Jim Ratcliffe replies: “I’d never have signed Eric Cantona. He’s really good at football so totally unsuitable for Manchester United under my leadership”.
