That's right folks, I'm playing Dressmaker =) For my very first client, a librarian, I opted for warm olive green and eggshell linen. A keyhole bodice and subtle lace on the sleeves add playful romance to this professional piece. She's sure to catch someone's eye between the shelves! #dressmaker

Delighted with this off-the-rack number I created to use the last of my strawberry cotton. Not enough for the whole skirt, but this eggshell idea on the sides keeps the garment looking light, despite the skirt's volume! #dressmaker

Question for Bluesky: I'm on a hunt for examples of major subdominants in a minor context *specifically* in Romantic & Late Romantic music. Ideal would be i→IV→i progressions. Bonus points if ♭VI is in the vicinity (so non-Dorian). Extra bonus points if music is of a noble or heroic character.

A gothic/romantic dress for my new client, who wanted a good amount of lace trim. I'm very pleased with my choice of ebony and gold pattern, elevating the look. #dressmaker

For my next client's interview with a biographer, I created this plum and pink number. The simple color block skirt became too visually heavy, so I added pink lace trim at both the hem and bodice, helping bounce the eye back upward. I'm pleased with my designs so far! #dressmaker

A gardening dress. They asked for three different colors, and I opted for a fun mix of floral and strawberry patterns as well. The ruffles are meant to evoke butterfly wings =) #dressmaker

An off-the-rack dress using leftover material from my first project =) I originally envisioned this in blue; hopefully I can save the pattern and create more? #dressmaker

My second client wants to be aggressively visible at a royal funeral. Far be it from me to judge, I chose this shimmering pink silk for a classical design, adding striking blue feathers to match her earrings and sense of flair. Just enough, without becoming gaudy. #dressmaker

The duke's sister asked for a gothic funeral dress to intimidate hangers-on. I went over budget for this one: French lace at the cuffs and bodice, and black lace trim all around the cuffs, collar, and hem. That was a lot of pinning, but the results were worth it! Proud of another piece. #dressmaker

Superman's symbol from his baby blanket meaning 'hope' or whatever is like if we sent off our own rocket kid and he became another planet's 'Live, Laugh, Love Man.' 'Bless This Mess Man'

Shoutout to the guy in front of me at THE ODYSSEY who was on his phone during the first half hour and then afterwards referred to the original story as 'the book' 💀

Seriously, I don’t need a whole series about how Mace Windu got his Jedi robes. At a certain point it’s just Windu dressing.

Darth Maul getting a standalone series is cool, but we don't need one for *every* Phantom Menace character. Let's let Qui-Gons be Qui-Gons

I talk a lot about how much violence is normalized in our daily language, but perhaps not enough about our dilution of joy. It could be the Second Coming tomorrow and what would you say? You already spent 'glorious' on your nephew's middle school football comeback

This hedonic hyperbole also limits our capacity for finding satisfaction in the ordinary. Let good things simply be good. If you need to exaggerate every small joy in order for it to seem worthy, look inward about that
