We brought the first tree to the barren Schuman square in Brussels, representing 1.25M PEOPLE who're asking @jessikaroswall.ec.europa.eu to protect health and nature. Every leaf blowing in the wind represents those calling EU decision-makers and polluters to keep their #HandsOffNature

We just handed over the voices of 1.25 MILLION EUROPEANS saying #HANDSOFFNATURE to the EU Environment Commissioner @jessikaroswall.ec.europa.eu 🙌🌱 We don't want to “simplify” protections for the air we breathe, the water we drink, and the food we eat! www.handsoffnature.eu
Two fossil fuel crises in four years should be enough. @ec.europa.eu President @vonderleyen.ec.europa.eu is preparing for her State of the EU speech in September. We’re joining 100+ organisations and businesses calling on her to make this fossil fuel crisis Europe’s last. Read the letter here⬇️
We are taking legal action against Spanish authorities to ensure that: - Governments have concrete plans to reduce this threat - Data is collected so we know the true scale of bycatch - Laws aimed at monitoring bycatch and protecting marine mammals and seabirds are enforced.
Do you want to put a stop to unselective fishing? Add your name to the petition to protect marine life from bycatch: act.clientearth.org/page/189510/...
Caught in nets by mistake, badly injured, asphyxiated, and discarded in the ocean. Bycatch is a hidden tragedy, but it can be prevented, and it's the government's responsibility to do so. Yet Spain is failing to monitor & protect cetaceans from unselective fishing activities, in breach of EU laws.
We filed complaints with the @ec.europa.eu, asking to investigate whether Poland and Hungary have breached EU law and require them to remove the barriers to accessing energy communities. The law already exists. Now governments need to put power in people’s hands.

Transparency around mining projects labelled 'strategic'- which get public money+laxer permitting, despite often dire impacts - is vital, @ombudsman.europa.eu ruling affirms👩⚖️ Read about the Per Geijer 'strategic' mine destroying Indigenous ways of life in Sweden: corporateeurope.org/en/2026/05/p...
WIN💫 The EU Commission refused to give us access to crucial documents around mining projects in Europe. We filed a complaint to @ombudsman.europa.eu and we won: she agrees with us that refusing to give access to the documents is unjustified and that the Commission should make them public! 🧵

These projects, if designated as “strategic” under the Critical Raw Materials Act, could reshape landscapes and impact the livelihoods. Take the lithium mine "strategic project" in northern Portugal that we're challenging in court: it's planned next to people’s homes and farmland.
This is the third time in a few months that the EU Ombudswoman found the Commission guilty of maladministration. We will keep pushing for full transparency in Strategic Project decisions that might affect communities.

Given the large impact these projects have on the environment, she said the Commission “should be able to explain to the public why it considered that a project’s environmental impacts would be sufficiently monitored and addressed”. Here are the watchdog's findings:
Energy communities mean lower bills, local renewable energy, and less dependence on fossil fuels. What’s not to like? 💫 If you've never heard of energy communities before, get started here:

We’re taking legal action over forever chemicals in Belgium, over its inaction to prevent harm to people’s health. Belgium has the highest levels of PFAS in Europe. The government has a legal duty to protect people’s health from harm. Read more: www.clientearth.org/latest/news/...
🚨 New legal study 🚨 The EU has the legal authority to prevent deep-sea minerals from being placed on the EU market to avoid destroying one of the least explored places on Earth. Read more: www.clientearth.org/latest/press... Download the study: www.clientearth.org/media/t4vnly...
Paris Pride March has been moved to September after the police ordered it to be called off because of the #heatwave 🚨 In the meantime, no European nation has a clear and comprehensive heat adaptation legal framework 👀 #ClimateChange
This means: publishing climate consistency assessments for all proposals, making sure that imbalanced “implementation dialogues” and "reality checks” don’t replace standard democratic consultation procedures, including clear and transparent procedures in Better Regulation Guidelines to avoid misuse.
Over the last 2 years, political priorities seem to have had the best of democratic processes. This needs to end now. With the EU watchdog, we'll monitor the revision of Better Regulation Guidelines and keep the pressure on the EU executive to turn its promises into concrete safeguards.

The promise of “simpler rules” is politically attractive. The consequences may be far less so. Reopening the #CommonFisheriesPolicy could unravel years of progress towards sustainable fisheries, creating new risks. Thanks, @drrashidsumaila.bsky.social, for helping bring clarity.

EU law is clear: govts must protect sensitive areas from destructive human activities. Yet Dutch bottom trawlers are still allowed to fish there, even without permit. So we took the Dutch govt to court with @doggerland-fdn.bsky.social @ark-rewildingnl.bsky.social @bluemarinef.bsky.social and won.
Dear Fashion Brands, why are you silent? With 16 civil society organizations including @mightyearth.org , @greenpeace.eu , @globalwitness.org, @umwelthilfe.bsky.social and @wwf.eu, we asked the European Fashion Industry to speak up. Because their absence is being read by decision-makers as consent.
The Commission’s findings should serve as a wake-up call: what the EU needs now is implementation, enforcement, and investment in sustainable fisheries - not further legislative chaos." Read full quote on LinkedIn: www.linkedin.com/posts/client...
The Commission has infringement procedures open against several EU countries for failing to tackle bycatch. With @seashepherdfrance.bsky.social and Défensedes Milieux Aquatiques, we are taking legal action so that: - Govts have plans to reduce this threat - Data is collected - Laws are enforced
This hidden tragedy can be prevented. If you care about marine life, join the record against the needless loss of life caused by non-selective fishing:
