It has been some time. But welcome to a fall edition of #RavineRambles
Today we traverse thru Charles Sauriol Conservation Reserve between Lawrence & Eglinton.

To begin we pass under the Rainbow tunnel

Today, as I’ve done most Thanksgiving weekends for about 20 years or more, I visited Etienne Brule Park by Old Mill Station, on the Humber. It was beautiful weather, so no surprise to find it busier than I’ve ever seen it.
It’s a beautiful night. Maybe you’ll enjoy some music like these folks outside the Linsmore Tavern. Or maybe you’ll join me for a Monday night Bluesky walk…
Happy Lower Don Trail Opening day to all who celebrate!!!!
After what feels like a decade of closure (since 2023 in reality), the trail has finally (mostly) been reopened.
I took a ride down to see the finished product. So far its looking promising.

Good afternoon from Cherry Beach. Today I will be taking a short walk around the outer harbour of the Port Lands, heading east towards Woodbine Park. Let's go. #metroscapes
Good morning from Lawrence Avenue east of the Don Valley Parkway in Toronto. Today I will be following the East Don River downstream to the forks, and then a bit of Taylor-Massey Creek. Let's go. #metroscapes
Sunset paddle on the Don River.
Paddles like this in the shadow of the city are a special thing.
Sometimes this city gets something right, and this portlands redevelopment is one of those things.
A true gift to the city.

Good morning from the York University campus in Toronto. Today I will be following Black Creek, from near the city's north border to Highway 401, then backtracking up some of its tributaries. Let's go. #metroscapes
Good morning from between the Upper and (lower) Beaches. Today I'll be documenting the shoreline east of the downtown core, as well as two ravines that (indirectly) connect to it. First leg is Small's Creek. Let's go. #metroscapes
Good morning from Exhibition Place in Toronto. Today I will start my explorations along the central waterfront, heading east from Trillium Park. I'll be covering part of the Don later on. Let's go. #metroscapes
Good morning from Yonge and Lawrence. This week will be a little different in that I will be refreshing some of my Toronto walks, and they will be broken up. Today we'll look a few different tributaries in the Don River, starting with Burke Brook from Yonge to the West Don. Let's go. #metroscapes
Snuck onto a soon-to-be-open stretch of trail at Biidaasige Park. I love the incremental, phased opening that lets us enjoy the space even if not fully finished!
A silver lining to spring: you can see the full skyline since the plants haven't yet grown in.
1. St. Patrick’s Day in Toronto used to be so dangerous the parade was cancelled for more than a century.
Here’s the story of the religious hatred and sectarian violence that once rocked our city — back in the days when Toronto was known as "The Belfast of Canada."
My annual thread...
Sunset over Tam O'Shanter.
With the warm weather fast approaching, taking some time to enjoy the limited snowshoeing opportunities in Highland Creek watershed.

There lies a rural relic in Aginxourt neighborhood of Scarborough.
An old silo sitting in Ron Watson Park. Today I stumbled on a painting of a farm that included the silo.
This is the only depiction (no photos) Ive encountered of this structure in this state

Valentine’s Day end-to-end trip east to west on new Line 5. Good experience. Busy but not crowded for first Saturday of service.

Its been cold, and its been snowy.. So its time for another Nordic edition of #RavineRambles
Today it's a short one, with two goals:
1) Trace a short creek near Old Cummer Rd
2) Find the old abandoned car
Come and join along

Now THIS is what deep freeze over a Great Lake looks like.
Lake Ontario is too big/deep to freeze over, though many protected sections do and have, such as parts of Toronto harbour where people are skating these days. Dawn glow with vapour ghosts - gorgeous.
