@cney.stream

I play (and sometimes speedrun) video games, and sometimes cover their music. I am also a web developer; see links and stream projects at the 100%-self-coded cney.stream!

I managed to try 20 #SteamNextFest demos this week, and I still have 11 installed that I either started and want to finish, or haven't even tried yet. I'll get to them eventually, but my stream schedule next Mon-Fri will be unpredictable, and any streams I do will be in the afternoon US ET.

This would seem to largely defeat the point of running an alternate streaming platform that isn't Twitch. (Also good lord that near-nonexistent text contrast.)

I already had "treats PC consumers as criminals" and "embraces genAI in game dev" on my list of reasons to never give Capcom any money. Guess now I'm adding "threatens legal action for taking their fighting game seriously"

Venicello@venicello.bsky.social

ultimateframedata.com/sf6/ it's really bad. UFD just had gifs of SF6 moves with hitboxes visible. they're claiming that data extraction like this is against their TOS. probably older games are safe but if they keep pressing this with SF6 i can't imagine many sites will want to host capcom resources

Add "the _developer_ spells it 'rougelite'" to the list of reasons I immediately close a Next Fest browser tab

Can definitely say I've once again seen at least one title that I definitely saw 2 Next Fests ago, in this event... I thought that allegedly wasn't supposed to be allowed anymore?? (Wasn't a bad demo, either)

There's a certain game demo in this Next Fest event that I was already kinda meh on because it's got soulslike elements, but now I am _extremely sus_ on it as well, because speedrun dot com blasted an email to I guess literally everyone on the site about a speedrun competition for that demo

Turns out I had... already gotten the stuff I thought I'd missed? I think it was the very first thing I did in that dungeon, and I didn't recognize it by the time I got to the other end of it lol Unfortunately I don't have a save file early enough to perform extremely obscure science with it

I like how at least twice this week I've gone to work on my bookmarklet to help browse Steam events faster, and then Steam has a normal one and stops loading anything, so I have to stop working on it Well whatever, in this case it's shmup time I suppose

Based. My only regret is they missed the opportunity to say "It has always been our intention for Big Walk to be played by groups of friends, and friends don't let friends give money to Microsoft"

An explanation on why Big Walk isn't available on Xbox. bigwalk.game/xbox

I will never understand streamers who condone spoilers during first playthroughs. Even if it seems like something small that you'd find out in a few seconds, spoiling it still robs you of your true first impression, which you can never get back, and it robs your viewers of experiencing that with you

If someone pulls that shit on you, or even seems inclined to do so? Ban their ass. The rest of your viewers who actually have a brain will thank you. I understand some people get too excited to "share". What they _should_ be sharing is enjoying a first impression vicariously through someone else.

Currently there are 423 games with the tag "bullet hell" in the press preview page for the upcoming Next Fest. 135 of them have AI disclosures. Sigh. (Keep in mind that tag gets applied liberally, e.g. to survivors-likes)

My dude, that doesn't look like "gaps" in knowledge, that looks like a fucking chasm

Duck AI Slop!!@duckaislop.bsky.social

VRChat "Some of us use AI to automate parts of our work or fill gaps in our knowledge." Already used in back end, translations, grammar, code help, smart editor tools, building tools, etc. -y ask.vrchat.com/t/regarding-...

Been working on a small but likely very-time-saving update to my Steam Sale Collapser bookmarklet ahead of next Next Fest... (not quite ready to publish yet, still want to do more testing first)

Imagine having a full dev team but then some dogshit overpaid "director" forces them to not do their jobs. You'd think Marvel/Disney/etc. might have a bone to pick with a studio completely shitting on all of the art and functionality in a project with their names on it.

Jason Schreier@jasonschreier.bsky.social

NEW: Epic Games has delayed its upcoming (not yet announced) Star Wars + Marvel shooter as it pivots to complete AI game development. "No more hand-written code," a director told staff. All art "generated with full AI workflows." Full scoop: www.bloomberg.com/news/article...

"The government claimed there was nothing they could do." You could start by doing YOUR FUCKING JOBS, you useless motherfuckers.

Brad Johnson@climatebrad.hillheat.com

My god. A Virginia data center ran backup diesel generators full blast for 24 hours, creating a giant cloud of toxic smoke that choked its human neighbors. The government claimed there was nothing they could do.

Cool, love getting under 6 hours of sleep on a Saturday because of a cement mixer fucking terrorizing the neighborhood before 8AM

SLOP WATCH: The Sonic Adventure recomp is vibe coded. You can tell because they say so and also because every code comment is a 4+ line short story and people who have actually done real decomp work (SPEEPSHighway) have no clue what it's even doing despite this. gj clod i mean claude #slopwatch

lol wtf, MLB proposing to make the expanded wild card even more of a joke by allowing higher-seed teams to pick which lower-seed teams they play? The expanded wildcard is a joke to begin with, just to manufacture more bullshit for talk shows to speculate on and fill air time from July to September.

I spent like 15 minutes looking around the Quake Rooftops Jam start map today and now as I'm cutting my VOD I'm realizing there's part of the map I totally ignored by accident Prepare for 15 more minutes exploring the start map tomorrow
