Keeping my qwen3 in cold storage and then popping it out of a flashdrive in 20 years like a bottle of fine wine

At some point, people might stop dropping open weights. But even then, all the models up until that point will still exist, like a used car market. Every new release basically sets a new efficiency standard past which everything must either be cheaper or faster. The competitive pressure rn is crazy

Today I realized that I (34) am more similar to the mom (45 - 34 == 11) talking her adult daughter to college than I am the adult daughter in the middle of said college (34 - 20 == 14) ... @_@ ...

TFW you wake up to 16 notifications and your first reaction is anxiety rather than excitement Hate brigades are more popular than like, talking about things you like

I spend more hours a week consuming YC / a16z content than Kai of 24 years ago would have preferred (they would have preferred 0) (If I had to guess I would say right now I'm at like, 3)

It's very funny to me to see videos of people talking about how much they hate { tech person who I opened up YouTube to watch a video from }

Possibly the most jarring thing was watching a casual back and forth about how much someone appreciated Peter Thiel. Felt like I was in a snow globe someone shook around then dropped on the floor

not sure if anyone noticed this, but Zohran Mamdaniโ€™s new PIT crew is specifically hiring for candidates with agentic coding experience โ€” we need more leftists leveraging AI for the public good, so this is encouraging to see!

If youโ€™re a software engineer, designer, or technologist who wants to help make City government work better and faster, apply to join our PIT crews at nyc.gov/pitcrew.

For me one of the more interesting parts of doing approx the same thing for a decade, is recognizing people who were @ that point when I started! Me feeling like dang I'm good at this been honing my craft People who have been aware me doing that since I was 20, being like, yeah you are vibes

All my best ideas happen when I should really really really be asleep But then the fun part is waking up the next morning like ?!?!!.???? A lot of that this morning

why would you use closed source software in 2026 that isnโ€™t your operating system (and even thenโ€ฆ)

The social media thing where you screenshot every post you don't like so you can be upset at the person literally forever, like years and years, after they have gone to lengths to delete and retract and apologize So like, fundamentally, ... why?

Now you can opt out of having your posts shown to non-followers in the Discover feed. We know not everyone wants to go viral. Sometimes you're just posting for your followers. This is one of a few updates we're working on to give you more control over your experience and help you find your people.

job app asked me what my favorite programming language was and I really really really wanted to say yaml but chickened out

Unseeable horrors but I've gotta figure out which horrors aren't encoding in the correct bitrate and also there's some visual tearing when the fake human cuts their fake onions

I had 30 notifications on here, and my first thought was that someone was raging @ me because *waves* pick any of the readily available reasons But turns out that it was just a data error and a bunch of my existing notifications had become unread! This displays how I feel about social media tho

Seeing other people release the same things you're working on, and them getting traction bc they're "well known in the space" Just tells me that I need to push harder / get things stamped and rolled out faster

It's shocking to me how many left leaning people seem to actively prefer being upset over any kind of curiosity. Seems much more common over the last 4 ish years. I don't really care to adopt the majority opinion here. I'm fine with not having a community centered around identity politics.

Sure I'll bite - being autistic and having to offset the constant information overload of certain social situations - doing things one would do with a phone without needing to be looking down at it - the above, but applied to visuals that are awkward to take pictures of. ex: food allergy lookups

Every single use-case for spy glasses and tech-bro AI seems to be "being an actual person doesn't interest me at all, what can I do instead?"

I run my own gut forgo now. Keeping disk space managed is a bit stressful. But overall very very worth it for me. Highly recommend if you're ops-y enough to self host and have a bunch of personal projects. Just as an example, here's my deploy forgejo.coilysiren.me

forgejo.coilysiren.meForgejo: Beyond coding. We forge.Forgejo is a self-hosted lightweight software forge. Easy to install and low maintenance, it just does the job.

My pet frustration today is people being upset at chatgpt because, every possible reason, but today because... HOW DARE YOU USE AI TO SUMMARIZE YOUR COWORKERS MESSAGES 300 upvotes, "everyone" agrees. Clearly nobody that's watching this YouTube short has been in a slack of 100 or more people???

I did an inbox 0 sweep this weekend and it's so comforting to be in my inbox now. Only 5 emails? ๐Ÿง˜๐Ÿฝโ€โ™€๏ธ

I'm doing visual regression tests on my space sim Which is exactly how my teenage self would have liked me to be spending my weekends

I have decided that I don't need to make anymore new things and instead I can focus on operating, configuring, and evangelizing the existing things I haven't set up a new CLI. For a week. I only have 6 now. Starting to get kinda itchy I dunno

Something about ... me building the best hammer you've ever seen, truly beautiful hammer, my god I've never seen so many nails in my life

Usage limit hit 10% after days of running Sol high for everything So I switch to Luna medium It takes maybe 2 minutes before I become extraordinarily annoyed with it. Why would anyone pay for this. Once my Sol high runs out I'll just use my self hosted qwen3. Or. Touch grass.

Anyways I think to myself, what do these researchers need me for And the robot says, because a bunch of math phds have no understanding of halting a DB migration @ 3am. They simply cannot fathom.
