Election Day is Tuesday, November 3 and we are ready to collect all the political yard signs at our Waste and Reuse Convenience Centers so they can be recycled. Instead of tossing your signs in the trash, bring them to us and we'll ensure they are kept out of the landfill.

Our Public Service crews were out making a difference during the Employee Fall Cleanup! 🍂🧹 We're always happy to do our part to keep our city clean and looking its best. Thank you to our team for your hard work and dedication to Columbus!

Gourdy’s Pumpkin Run on Saturday, Oct. 24, and the Making Strides Against Breast Cancer walk/run on Sunday, Oct. 25, will close Washington Blvd from Broad St to Town St from Friday, Oct. 23, 7 a.m., until Sunday, Oct. 25, 4 p.m., with rolling closures along the routes.

More than 1 billion pounds of pumpkins go to U.S. landfills each year—creating powerful greenhouse gasses that accelerate climate change. Help reduce that number by bringing your pumpkins to one of our FREE collection sites instead of tossing them in the trash.

The SR 104 westbound right lane from the Haul Rd bridge to the Scioto River bridge is closed indefinitely for bridge repairs. In addition, the left side shoulder on SR 104 westbound across the Scioto River is closed for these repairs.

***SERVICE CHANGE NOTIFICATION*** The City of Columbus trash collection service will not be provided on Monday, October 12, in observance of Indigenous Peoples' Day; however, recycling and yard waste pickup will occur as scheduled.

Reminder! Don't risk getting ticketed or towed! Mark your calendar for 2026 street sweeping and OSU game days. Sign up now to receive phone and email alerts by visiting our Street Sweeping page at columbus.gov

Starting Monday, Oct. 5, the intersection at Smoky Row Rd and Summit View Blvd will close for approximately two weeks during storm sewer and sidewalk construction. Watch for road closure signage and follow the posted detour signage.

One of these things is not like the others👀 Along our E Broad St demonstration project, there are hidden bike counters that will provide us with valuable insight as we continue to monitor the project. ZICLA came out to show our crews how to install them and how they work.

It's #FoodWastePreventionWeek! Columbus households waste up to $2,000 in food each year. By recycling food scraps, you can save money, enrich local soil and reduce the amount of waste sent to landfills. Small changes make a big difference for your wallet and for our planet.

We hosted our third annual Central Ohio Snow Plow Roadeo & Snow Emergency Briefing with the Central Ohio Chapter of APWA! 🚜❄️ Crews from across the region put their skills to the test. Congrats to John Carter of Hilliard, this year’s Roadeo champion! 🏆

Congratulations to Mobility Intern D'Laveance Bert-Sims on becoming a 2026-2028 #VoyagerScholarship recipient! The prestigious Voyager Scholarship was created by the Obamas and Airbnb CEO/Co-Founder Brian Chesky to shape young leaders in public service. We're proud to have D'Laveance represent DPS!

More life-saving flashing yellow arrow signals, now at S Hamilton!

Vision Zero Columbus@visionzerocbus.bsky.social

Flashing Yellow Arrow signals are activated on S Hamilton Rd at Groves. Kingsland, Macsway. Eastland One, Eastland Two, I-70 EB and I-70 WB. After installation at Hilliard-Rome and Roberts Rd, we saw a 31% decrease in injury crashes in just 9 months. Vision Zero means designing safer streets!

Left-turn crashes are one of the leading causes of fatal and serious injury crashes. These signals will save lives!

Vision Zero Columbus@visionzerocbus.bsky.social

7 intersections on S Hamilton Rd - Groves Rd, Kinglsand Ave, Macsway Ave, Eastland One/Eastland Dr, Eastland Two, I-70 EB and I-70 WB - will soon have Flashing Yellow Arrow signals. These reduce the frequency and severity of left-turn crashes by giving drivers more opportunities to turn safely.

Slow speeds allow us to keep an eye out for Columbus kids and react faster to unpredictable movements. In a school zone, 20 is plenty. Thank you to @columbusdps crews for installing the infrastructure that gives us a physical reminder of the lives we all have a responsibility to protect.

City of Columbus trash collection service will not be provided on Monday, Sept 7, in observance of Labor Day. Recycling and yard waste service with a collection day that falls on or after the holiday will be delayed by one day during the week of the holiday.

Our second-to-last #RiseUpCBUS event is tomorrow! Join us this Thursday, August 27, 2026, at Colerain Elementary, 499 E Weisheimer Rd, 4:30–7:30 PM. Come to this FREE event for resources, food, music, and COMMUNITY!! We can’t wait to see you there!

Kinda chic. Kinda considerate. Kinda the whole vibe. ✨ Swipe for six ways to give your scooter or car ride main-character energy — helmet on, signs read, battery checked, pedestrians yielded to. Turns out you’ve had the “responsible rider and driver” look all along.

Game day is for touchdowns, not tow trucks. 🏈🚫🚗  Watch for “No Parking” restrictions around Ohio State on home games this fall. Saw this post a little too late? Check the Impound Lot hours for home game weekends.

DATE CHANGE: Join us on Thursday, August 27 @ 5 PM to review plans for the intersection of Greenlawn Ave - Thurman Ave at High St and Leonard Ave under the railroad bridge.  Visit engage.columbus.gov/greenlawnthurmanhighintersection and engage.columbus.gov/leonardavenuerailroadbridge for more info.

The Franklinton floodwall with floodgates are going up on Greenlawn Ave and Harmon Ave due to heavy rainfall and rising river levels. Greenlawn Ave is closed between Front St and Harmon Ave, and the I-71 ramps at Greenlawn are closed. Harmon Ave is closed north of Frank Rd.

On a 2 or 3 lane road, drivers on BOTH SIDES of the road must stop when a bus is dropping off/picking up. Roads with 4+ lanes, drivers traveling the opposite direction of the bus don't have to stop. Yellow Lights on a bus mean drivers should prepare to stop, and STOP means STOP🛑

Public Service crews are deployed throughout the city to assist Columbus Recreation and Parks crews with removal of large storm debris in the right-of-way so safe movement and essential services can continue. When Columbus needs us most, we are ready to answer the call to serve.

Reminder! Sign up for Street Sweeping alerts at columbus.gov. Please check the posted signs on each side of the street for specific days of the week. The 4th St. parking lane along the new bike lane is NOT exempt from street sweeping. Move your car on scheduled days.

We are down to the last 3 #RiseUpCBUS events! Join us this Thursday, August 6, 2026, at Driving Park, 1100 Rhoads Ave, 4:30–7:30 PM. Come to this FREE event for resources, food, music, and COMMUNITY!! We can’t wait to see you there!

New safety improvements coming to Summit and 4th!👏

Vision Zero Columbus@visionzerocbus.bsky.social

Sooo satisfying😍 Have you seen @columbusdps.bsky.social crews installing our latest safety test project at the Summit St & 4th Ave intersection? Adding crosswalks, painted curb extensions with plastic bollards and upgraded signage, is expected to reduce crashes and improve pedestrian safety.
