Election Day is Tuesday, November 3 and we are ready to collect all the political yard signs at our Waste and Reuse Convenience Centers so they can be recycled. Instead of tossing your signs in the trash, bring them to us and we'll ensure they are kept out of the landfill.

Yesterday's team up with Keep Columbus Beautiful and Columbus Recreation and Parks Department to plant 25 trees and over 500 native plants at Woodward Park will have a lasting impact as we continue to work towards a more resilient Columbus.

Don’t trash those pumpkins!

More than 1 billion pounds of pumpkins go to U.S. landfills each year—creating powerful greenhouse gasses that accelerate climate change. Help reduce that number by bringing your pumpkins to one of our FREE collection sites instead of tossing them in the trash.

Over 500 native plants and 25 trees went in the ground today at Woodward Park. Thank you to the staff and volunteers with Keep Ohio Beautiful and Columbus Recreation and Parks who joined us to help keep Columbus beautiful!

Our Keep Columbus Beautiful office and supply warehouse will be closed today, Monday, October 12, 2026, and both Waste and Reuse Convenience Centers will be closed on Tuesday, October 13, 2026 to honor and celebrate Indigenous Peoples Day.

Join Coca-Cola Consolidated to help collect and recycle bottles and cans during the Columbus Marathon on Sunday, October 18! Multiple volunteer shifts are available, and all volunteers will receive a custom Coca-Cola quarter-zip and hat.

Once you have eaten your leftovers, gotten creative with food in your fridge, and only have items that can't be donated or eaten, then bring what's left to one of the city's FREE food scraps drop-off locations for food to be composted. #FoodWastePreventionWeek

How it's started -> how it's going: Columbus Blessing Box Edition. This food was collected at the city's Waste and Reuse Convenience Centers—a free location for residents to recycle, upcycle, and donate items instead of sending them to the landfill. #FoodWastePreventionWeek

It's #FoodWastePreventionWeek! Columbus households waste up to $2,000 in food each year. By recycling food scraps, you can save money, enrich local soil and reduce the amount of waste sent to landfills. Small changes make a big difference for your wallet and for our planet.

Food date labels are often misunderstood as being when food is bad. This isn’t true (except for baby formula) and is one of the reasons food goes to the landfill. These labels are set by manufacturers, and most foods are safe to eat after the listed date. #FoodWastePreventionWeek

Welcome to #FoodWastePreventionWeek! Central Ohio sends over a million pounds of food to the SWACO landfill every single day. Not only could most of this food feed people, but when rotting away in a landfill, it creates powerful greenhouse gasses that fuel the climate crisis.

Small changes at home can make a big impact on climate change. This Food Waste Prevention Week, share your favorite food-saving tip or recipe remix! Together, we can build a zero food waste future. 🍎♻️ #FoodWastePreventionWeek

Our 2026 Litter Index is complete. This important tool helps us, other city departments, community groups, and volunteers better coordinate, target, and clean up litter across our community. Check it out, then plan a litter cleanup so that we can keep Columbus beautiful together.

Welcome to fall! Remember that leaving leaves on the ground is the best option—but if you must collect and dispose of them, composting at home or bagging them in paper bags and setting them out for yard waste collection are good alternatives. Never toss them in the trash.

Thank you to everyone who braved the rain and joined the Scioto Sweep! We are still tallying the total amount of litter collected, but in the meantime, we want to express our sincere gratitude to all the volunteers and staff who made today's river cleanup a huge success.
