Came for the apples, found this little creature

Pebble or mushroom? #MushroomMonday #autumnvibes

Meanwhile at the National Institute for Subatomic Physics... @nikhef.bsky.social

Yep that's me promoting the Big Science Business Forum (27-30 Oct) and the #EinsteinTelescope . Usually I encourage others to do these kinds of things, interesting experience to be 'on the other side'. More in the movie and on www.bsbf2026.org youtu.be/8X6P9oS5V9s?...

You would almost think we have an event coming up. The unpolished side of event organising. Come find us at www.bsbf2026.org 27-30 October, Maastricht #einsteintelescope #BigScience

The Geometry Comparison Report for the Einstein Telescope last Wednesday. 200+ experts from 20+ institutions contributed. It synthesises site-independent information on geometric configurations to support decision-making. #EinsteinTelescope Read more: einsteintelescope.eu/news/over-20...

Our particles are ready! Are you? Visit the Science Day of Amsterdam Science Park, including @nikhef.bsky.social, this Saturday wetenschapsdagamsterdamsciencepark.nl

When your colleague brings candy from Japan. Two special KitKats and ... something pink (apparently it pops)?

Could use some of this

Somehow this little one reminds me of Pinocchio. Happy #MushroomMonday everyone! #gardenlover

Niet alleen Nikhef doet mee aan het Weekend van de Wetenschap, ook onze partneruniversiteiten hebben fantastische evenementen in petto, bekijk ze hier: www.nikhef.nl/evenement/we...

Purple + rain (drops) = perfection. Look at this beautiful geranium flower! #bloomscrolling #plantlover #gardenlover

Nasturtium flower? Or a cute little dragon smiling at you? #bloomscrolling #flowers #gardenlover #plantlover

This (corn)flower appears to be levitating. Have a happy (magical) Monday! #bloomscrolling #plantlover #gardenlover

Just had my yearly use-Pythagoras-to-calculate-the-height-of-a-sticker moment, which can only mean one thing: the Science Day of the Amsterdam Science Park (incl @nikhef.bsky.social ) is coming up! Saturday 3 October. Programme will be available here soon: wetenschapsdagamsterdamsciencepark.nl

How do you build 120 km of beam pipes for the Einstein Telescope and keep them exceptionally clean, stable and under ultra-high vacuum? A full-scale pilot sector at CERN is helping us find out. Discover the engineering behind ET’s vacuum system 👇 einsteintelescope.eu/news/buildin...

Ok Van Gogh, I get the sunflower thing now (every head is a little monster with a life of its own) #flowers #sunflowers #bloomscrolling

At the 2-3 Sept APPEC meeting in Geneva, participants fine-tuned the European Astroparticle Physics Strategy 2027-2036. In the draft document, the Einstein Telescope was named the next major flagship project for gravitational-wave astronomy. Final roadmap due end of 2026! #EinsteinTelescope

It's one of those days that cleaning my glasses in the morning before leaving home was a waste of time 🌧️👓 #commuterlife #rainyThursday #rain

1 September: a new academic year starts. It may not show in this picture, but the @nikhef.bsky.social building in Amsterdam was buzzing like a beehive again today

Droughts, heatwaves ...not a great year for our vegetable garden. The grapes, however, thrived! #gardenlove

Amazing what can grow out of a single sunflower seed! One plant, many many flowers

A 'summer read' on work that is being done by a working group on site selection procedure and criteria, on the road towards a site decision for a revolutionary third-generation gravitational wave detector in Europe: the #EinsteinTelescope.

It's bug time! Say hello to this beautiful little blue beetle sitting on a sage leaf #garden #gardenlife #bugoftheday

🔦 #ET_young Meet Romano Meijer, System Engineer at the Einstein Telescope Organisation Project Office at Nikhef. Romano helps bring together the many technologies behind ET into one coherent design. Off the clock? He's often under the stars, capturing galaxies like M101 with his own telescope. 🔭✨

Yep, there is still a bit of a nerd in me. Getting all excited about my new access to a media monitoring + analysis system 🤓. Trying very hard not to get carried away. #workinginsummer

I designed something, talked about logos, talked about plants and talked about rubber ducks. Not a typical day @nikhef.bsky.social , not a bad one either. #workinginsummer #einsteintelescope

Future coffee spot for Einstein Telescope Organisation (ETO) colleagues? Not the cosiest location though (metro Amsterdam Central Station)

Subtle sign we had a meeting in Amsterdam today #einsteintelescope

One more holiday photo (after this I mostly get to watch others fly out while holding the fort). A taste of Ribe, Denmark

Day 2 back at my desk: trying to keep some of the Norwegian holiday vibes and thought I'd share some of that with you

Took a train in Norway ❤️

June: that time of year you just have to visit a botanical garden and say hi to a Victoria amazonica #plantlove @hortusleiden.bsky.social

Nice flowchart: should I use scientific jargon in communication? #scicomm

It's my work anniversary today! 8 years making waves for Nikhef and the Einstein Telescope, 3+ years with the Einstein Telescope Organisation (ETO). Grateful for many colleagues with strong values who combine deep thinking with getting things done. A combo close to my heart.

That's it, it's official now. We millennials are no longer the 'young cool ones' 🫠 #millennialproblems #feelingold

Found this beautiful beetle in the garden

The photo I should show when people ask me what worklife @nikhef.bsky.social is like

Sat under a tree today while listening to a talk about dark matter detectors @nikhef.bsky.social

#commuterlife #trainstation #amsterdam

Nice interactions during the social media session at the @nikhef.bsky.social Jamboree. Thanks to @tristandupree.bsky.social @koppenburg.ch and @particleclara.bsky.social

It may not look like much, but a few months from now this could be a thriving vegetable garden.
