times r tough... we're working on some really cool stuff, but hard to move at a good clip when money is so tight. anything you can give contributes significantly to both rachel's comfort & helping us release another videogame

i make practically nothing from my job, i have next to nothing in my bank account, and i can’t keep piling on more commissions. to keep my head afloat, i’m opening up a ko-fi where you can support me in whatever way you’re able. even five dollars is an enormous help. thank you

I'm immensely proud to announce that my texture library that's been in the making for nearly a decade is now available on my itchio store for indie devs to purchase commercial licenses. makkon.itch.io

been playing that new control and so far it's a pretty bog-standard AAA game where you get a cool weird vignette every thirty minutes. more dead air by volume than either control or wake 2. some very muted remedyisms but nothing that makes you go "nobody else could've made this"

imo control as a videogame is whatever and most of the writing is a fumble, but the oldest house is great and the ideas are fun and it brims with enough natural creative energy to sand over most of what doesn't work. it's good in a very shaky way. kinda feels like this one finally goes off the cliff

it has the same vibe as something like spider-man 2, down to zipping through manhattan having stilted conversations with people who never feel quite human and going to map icons to infrequently have an experience you'll actually remember a week from then. maybe it gets better? hopefully

hard to believe it has been 10 years since this iconic video of laura panicking in unreleased vr game "sluggy's fruit emporium" when bugs caused interruptions to her fruit supply

I'm an official D&D/MTG illustrator working on a game that's p much a love letter to everything I like about RPGs. and more: it's pay-what-you-like. get OMIOS URES for free if you want, I don't care. spread the word, play the game once with your group and I guarantee they will want a campaign. :)

Matheus Graef@omiosures.bsky.social

Heavily inspired by Morrowind, Planescape and 70's Star Wars with a dash of bronze age and art nouveau. The mood? Conan after Conan: all the heroes are dead and this is the world they built. That's OMIOS URES, my weird fantasy RPG. And it's FREE on itch.io! matheusgraef.itch.io/omios-ures

i'm looking over some other screenshots and it's interesting to see how they do their vistas generally... karnaca scans as more detailed when it's mostly just height variation and two or three alternative buildings thrown in. the powers of interesting urban topography

I know some people who worked on Splinter Cell Blacklist follow me but I don't know who so I would just like to broadcast that the DLC co-op level "BILLIONAIRE'S YACHT" is extremely good. What a good level. Very well done whoever that was

if it's layoffs on ship no matter what, never pay that company for anything. why would you. your money will never reach anyone who worked on what you bought, or respected those people. you'll not be investing in anything in any sense software is on the honour system and these people have no honour

the only thing missing from the splinter cell conviction story is the two dudes should fuck right before the tragic ending. it would really tie the room together

The Tax Collector Man@coolgoblinzone.bsky.social

it's a given that something like this would be fun but i was shocked at how engaging and successfully dramatic it was. legit excellent. i can't believe how invested i got in these two specific dudes

Joe Wintergreen@joewintergreen.com

played some additional Splinter Cell Von Kitchen co-op (spoilers for the ending here) and also the actually incredible multiplayer mode "FACE-OFF" where you compete to kill the most dudes and also each other www.youtube.com/watch?v=Lj80...

if you played A Way Out -- and i assume more people have when compared to the deprecated co-op campaign for Splinter Cell Conviction -- this is basically that but 10x better. literally the same climax but good instead of bad. i always wanted something like that so it was a v pleasant surprise

i once scheduled a taxi to pick me up at 11 am on the 11th of november, which makes a clean 11/11/11. the dispatcher notices this and laughs. the day arrives and no taxi shows up, so i call. the same dispatcher says she has the time down as "12" and suggests i misspoke. strange and infuriating tales

you know exactly what this feels like if you've ever been so bewildered by somebody else's mistake that it leaves you completely adrift. i just kept saying "but the eleven thing?" and she kept going "what??" and i was like "it makes three elevens" and she replied "what??"

don't let the phoned-in visuals of the Halo remake off the hook by scapegoating Unreal imo. if something looks boring it's because someone boring made it

JoeIO is on Fab now. Buy it and tell your boss to buy it at the much higher corporate price (or whatever it is called) www.fab.com/listings/94c...

fab.comJoeIOJoeIO is an input/output (I/O) style system for level scripting in Unreal (currently 5.7 and up). If you don’t know what that is or means, I have an informative blog post all about it,&...
Joe Wintergreen@joewintergreen.com

I have released my level scripting i/o system, it's called JoeIO and it works great for me and at work but it's early so be gentle and just holler if you come across any weirdness. An explanatory video is below www.joewintergreen.com/joeio-a-leve...

i like posts about sports because rarely is there any barrier to somebody like me understanding them. not esoteric in the slightest. i think it's delightful that people who have been watching soccer for years or decades will be going like "they should try kicking the ball in the goal to score"

i've been periphery to that stuff for going on five years now and i honestly can't remember a single backrooms thing before this where it was like, an actual character-driven narrative pitch of any kind. a surreal effect. very little room for writing in the modern Weird Rooms horror movement

the weakest material in the movie is near-universally a product of trying to do the youtube shit: one character alone in the weird rooms, wandering around and alternatively getting chased by implied turbosquid monsters, finding hints of a Secret Lab... film saved by the mere existence of a script
