It's amazing to see how the CAMS community keeps growing, and how our communal projects help our Member States, decision-makers and citizens to access state-of-the-art atmospheric composition and air quality data.

Introducing AIFS-COMPO, a new data-driven forecasting system for global atmospheric composition up to 10 days ahead. Adapting ECMWF’s AIFS to aerosols and reactive gases, AIFS-COMPO is trained on data from the Copernicus Atmosphere Monitoring Service. ➡️ www.ecmwf.int/en/about/med...

10 years after Athens hosted the first CAMS General Assembly, the event returned to the city for its 10th edition. Host Vassilis Amiridis reflects on Greece’s CAMS National Collaboration Programme: providing new services, supporting informed policymaking and connecting academia, research & more. ⬇️

Get highlights from the September #C3S Climate Bulletin: second warmest September on record globally, record-high average sea surface temperature over the extra-polar ocean, widespread dryness across parts of Europe, record-low September river flows in parts of major rivers, and more. ⬇️

💧 The September C3S Climate Bulletin reports widespread dry conditions across western, central & eastern Europe. Record-low river flows for the month affected the Rhine, Danube, Vistula and Garonne-Dordogne. Late-month rainfall caused flooding in parts of France and Spain. #CopernicusClimate

❄ September Arctic daily sea ice reached its annual summer minimum, the 14th lowest on record, with monthly extent about 10% below average. Daily sea ice extent in Antarctica reached its annual winter maximum, the 3rd lowest on record, as reported in the #C3S Climate Bulletin.

🌍 As of 15 September 2026, dust alerts have been recorded across the global dust belt, from the Sahara & Arabian Peninsula to Central Asia & Australia. Among the European cities, Las Palmas recorded the highest number, with a total of 20 alert days.

🔥Wildfire emissions can affect air quality far from where fires are burning. During summer 2026, several smoke plumes from North America crossed the Atlantic towards Europe, while fires in Indonesia exposed populations to very high PM2.5 concentrations.

Global total estimated fire emissions were the second-lowest in the 24-year CAMS dataset for September 2026. However, Indonesia recorded its third-highest September monthly total estimated emissions, contributing to Asia having the highest estimated fire emissions of any continent. ⬇️ @ecmwf.int
