A few days ago, I met with my Youth Council for a roundtable on safe social media. From online harms to platform accountability, young people's experiences and perspectives are fundamental to shaping our work toward safer online spaces for all Canadians.

If you haven't voted yet, it's not too late, and it's so important that you do. If you are in line by 8pm you will be allowed to vote. Your polling station is probably not more than a few minutes walk away. Voting location and more can be found at Elections Alberta's website.

The news out of CFB Wainwright is heartbreaking. The work our men and women in uniform do is inherently dangerous, and them doing it is always brave. We can never forget how indebted we are to those who serveβ€”or what we owe them and their loved ones.

People are experiencing a terrible tragedy tonight. Canada mourns, Canada’s prayers and thoughts are with the affected, and Canada will be there for the community in the days and years ahead. Thank you to all those responding to this incident.

If you voted by mail-in ballot in Alberta's referendum it's important you: 1. CHECK that your vote was received (πŸ‘‡). 2. VOTE on Election Day (October 19) if it wasn't.

Did you vote in the Alberta referendum by special ballot? Make sure that you confirm your vote was actually received by using the link Elections Alberta sent you from info@elections.ab.ca when you submitted your request. And, if it isn't received in time? Go vote in person! πŸ‡¨πŸ‡¦

Today's the last day of advance voting in the Alberta referendum. If you haven't voted - go vote. If you have - get others to vote. Text three friends. Make a social post. Start a group chat. Offer a ride/childcare. Build plans around voting. Canada is worth fighting for. πŸ‡¨πŸ‡¦

As you vote, consider: 1. 55% of doctors say they’d leave Alberta if we voted to separate [AMA]. 2. 50% of Calgary businesses say they’d leave or reduce activity if we proceeded with separation process [Calgary Chamber]. 3. Bank of Montreal’s operating headquarters is Toronto.

This morning, I spoke at the Line 3 Indigenous Advisory & Monitoring Committee's Line-Wide gathering on Tsuut'ina Nation territory. From Indigenous-led monitoring to emergency preparedness, the Committee shows how meaningful partnerships can protect our lands & waters while advancing reconciliation.

πŸ—³οΈπŸ‡¨πŸ‡¦ Advance polls are now open in the Alberta referendum. Most polling places are open 9am to 8pm daily. Don't sit this one out! Don't risk life getting in the way on election day! Cast an early vote for Canada and encourage friends and family to do the same. Share this info.

A referendum with loaded questions. AB gov't ads telling us how to vote. Putting the country itself on the ballot. As Albertans, we decide if we're okay with this. I see a broken processβ€”and Canada being used as a bargaining chip. I voted to stay in Canada. And no to the nine.

The U.S.'s unjustified trade actions damage both our economies, no question. But we're attracting record investment, diversifying trade, building industry. While month-to-month job numbers will vary, the picture is clearer when we step back: Canadians are winning this trade war.

πŸ‡¨πŸ‡¦πŸ— Are you thinking: "Oh man, I've gotta deal with Uncle Mitch spouting his Alberta separatism nonsense at Thanksgiving"? First: we salute you. It's important to talk to friends & family about the referendum, make the case for Canada. Second: A few resources for you. (🧡)

We've built an incredible country - one that enjoys a chart-topping reputation. That shows up in vibes, sure - but also in that we are the only G7 economy with a free trade agreement with every other G7 country. The maple leaf is a brand we're rightly proud of. (6/8)

The Calgary Chamber of Commerce released a report recently that talked about the economic hit: "The evidence is clear: separation would leave Alberta with a smaller economy, fewer workers, less investment and weaker public finances." (3/8)

calgarychamber.comNew report from Calgary Chamber unveils high stakes of Alberta separationΒ  - The Calgary ChamberA new report by University of Calgary economist Trevor Tombe, commissioned by the Calgary Chamber of Commerce, examines the potential economic implications of Alberta separating from Canada.

That's some of the downside covered, but let's make sure the positive case is there too. This one might surprise Uncle Mitch: the average Canadian is wealthier than the average American. That's because we do a better job of supporting the middle class. (4/8)

If we say we're going to β€œstand on guard for thee”, we can stand in line to vote. Advance voting in the Alberta referendum starts next week. Election day is October 19. Make a plan to vote and follow through. Your country is counting on you. πŸ‡¨πŸ‡¦

This week we listed the west coast pipeline, Pacific Link, as a project of national interest. It reduces U.S. reliance, grows the economy and is part of a broader agreement with Alberta that includes 2050 net zero, industrial carbon pricing, CCS, methane reduction. It's how we build Canada strong.

Today the Globe and Mail reports about American political operatives involving themselves in Alberta's referendum. This is, of course, wholly inappropriate. I want to provide some context to any American who sees an "opportunity": (🧡)

Canada and the United States have been great allies and close friends and I do not want to brush all Americans - or even all Americans in the U.S. administration - with the same brush. Political operatives routinely work on and consult with elections on both sides of the border. (5/6)

Now, do I believe California is about to separate? Of course not. What I believe is support for separatism is often a proxy for debates within a country. There are true separatists - in Alberta AND California - but mostly it is how people choose to express their frustration with a country. (3/6)

But within a country is the key words. Americans should not engage themselves in the Alberta referendum. It would be no more appropriate than - I am sure you would agree - Canadians lending support to California secessionists. (4/6)

Great to join Tuesday’s Power Plays panel at the Energy Disruptors conferenceβ€”where we discussed Canada’s opportunity to build more through clear, durable regulations, stronger east-west energy connections, and meaningful economic partnerships with Indigenous communities. Thanks for having me!

We have a responsibility to remember what happened, to learn from it, and to carry truth forward. Reconciliation is a process that we must all commit to and work towardsβ€”today, tomorrow, and for generations to come. Every Child Matters 🧑

Truth and Reconciliation requires us to look honestly at some of the most painful chapters of our history. It goes beyond today, and it requires us to listen. To listen to the truths of survivors, honour their strength, and remember the children who never came home.

The Building Canada Strong Act gives us the tools to build faster and build better. To diversify markets and strengthen our economy - while ensuring the high environmental and social standards Canadians expect.

True sovereignty is the ability to make choices. More partners and alliances means more choices. Any time you cooperate you give a little. But you can get a lot. Canada's in the enviable position of being able to deepen relationships and reduce dependency on any single country. https://hogan.mp/5

Despite Conservative claims, there are not 500 projects β€œwaiting for permits”.Β  We're building more, we're building faster, and we're doing that while maintaining high environmental and social standards. Making things up is not how you hold government to account.

Pierre's protesting something not happening. But we won't find sovereignty in autarky. Sovereignty comes from choices. US trade made us prosperous but we need other deep relationships. That gives options - making Canada more resilient, sovereign and free.
