As dusk falls on a day where Keir Starmer said his final goodbye from the dispatch box and MPs plan summer visits around the villages & community groups back home, doesn’t the mother of all Parliaments look fabulous

It's shameful that conversion practices, that seek to change, ‘cure’ or supress LGBTQ+ people, are still legal in the UK today. I stand with Stonewall in their campaign - conversion practices must be banned immediately. #BanConversionPractices

Today is a special anniversary for me. It marks exactly two years since I was elected as the MP for Mid Dorset and North Poole. I've learned a huge amount along the way, and I'm grateful every day for the opportunity to represent the place I call home. Here's to many more!

As Pride month 2026 comes to a close, I am reflecting on the fears and uncertainties many trans people have shared in recent months. I am deeply worried by the growing discrimination they experience, and I fear that recent changes to guidance will usher in another era of unsafety where trans and...

My thoughts on the Courts Bill ⚖️ I've been scrutinising the Courts Bill closely and, while I recognise the need to address pressures in the system, I cannot support proposals that would reduce access to jury trials.

School funding belongs in the classroom, not the boardroom. 📚 The unprecedented cuts at Corfe Hills and QE School are devastating. We need urgent reform to Multi-Academy Trust governance to ensure every penny of funding prioritises our students, not executive operations.

I was proud to recently attend an event in Parliament hosted by representatives from Animal Free Research UK and the Centre for Human Specific Research in support of Herbie's Law, exploring alternative solutions to animal testing.

🚒 Dorset and Wiltshire Fire and Rescue Service has a deficit of £1.5 million. 💰️ We must work across parties to encourage the Government to properly fund all our fire services so that we can protect all our residents - regardless of who runs their local fire authority.

A sad day with Dignity in Dying as we expect the Lords to finally throw out the Assisted Dying Bill. However, there is so much hope here. I am passionate about moving this through. In the next session of Parliament we will do all we can to bring this Bill back. Today is a 'bump in the road'.

Last week I had a meeting with Minister McDonald - the Minister for Industry in the UK - alongside Richard from local steel manufacturer Hy-Ten to discuss current issues around capacity in the steel sector and the resulting impact this is having on our economy and construction.

Project Welcome is a brilliant local campaign raising money to repair and modernise St Mary's in Sturminster Marshall. Today in Parliament I asked if, upon the closure of the Listed Place of Worship grant scheme, projects already underway will still be eligible for the renewal scheme.

How wonderful to welcome Sir Ed Davey to Upton Heath yesterday to celebrate the power of community. Alongside Dorset Wildlife Trust, it was the community that came together to secure the section of Upton Heath that was up for sale and ensure that it is protected for future generations.

Today I spoke in Parliament to congratulate Dorset Wildlife Trust and local people on their incredible efforts to secure Upton Heath. I asked the Prime Minister to demonstrate his commitment to nature and to legislate to extinguish historic planning consents.

Following on from my post yesterday, I wanted to update you all that we may have found a route to help protect Upton Heath through the Localism Act. I have written to the Council to ask them to urgently consider the land for sale as an Asset of Community Value. I will keep you updated 🤞

You may have heard that part of Upton Heath is up for sale. I am working hard behind the scenes to see how we can raise the funds to protect this precious landscape. We must make sure that Upton Heath is protected for nature and for our community.

Layla Moran MP - Chair of the Health and Social Care Select Committee - says the assisted dying Bill hasn’t distracted from palliative care - it’s pushed it up the agenda. She argues it has sparked national conversations that are finally driving action - and that this moment must be seized upon.

I spent 10 hours on shift with crews from the South Western Ambulance Service and was blown away by their professionalism and compassion. Under huge pressure, they deliver expert care with calm reassurance. We must back our frontline teams.

Ahead of my meeting with Minister Gould this afternoon, I have written to her to share some of my concerns in advance. I question the current effectiveness of the Academy Trust system. Originally set up to turn around struggling schools, the system has stagnated and families feel failed.

Today I asked the Prime Minister to ensure the unelected House of Lords does not block the will of the elected House of Commons on the Assisted Dying Bill. With public polling showing strong support, this is a democratic issue.

Youth unemployment is soaring. The Chancellor’s jobs tax, combined with the threat of AI, is bearing down on opportunities, and young people are facing increasingly difficult and uncertain times. With no clear action being taken, I asked the government to set out its plans to tackle this issue.

Raising the work of MYTIME Young Carers in Dorset, I asked the Minister what his department is doing to tackle the poorer outcomes young carers often face. I was disappointed by the response. I’ll be meeting with Ed Davey and MYTIME to discuss how we can strengthen their vital work.

Yesterday I voted in Parliament in favour of banning social media for under-16s. The proposal was rejected. Many adults have contacted me with their views, but I also wanted to hear directly from young people. That’s why I’ve taken the question into local schools to ask students what they think.

Private SEND schools receiving council funding aren’t required to tell councils if they have places available — unlike state schools. This can cause long delays for children needing support. I’ve asked the Health Secretary how we can create a fairer system that puts children first.
