108 years ago today. The troopship HMS Otranto sank off Islay with the loss of 431 lives on 6 October 1918. Her loss, and that of S.S. Tuscania on 5 February 1918 with 260 deaths, is marked by the poignant American Monument on Islay. More pics and info: www.undiscoveredscot... #Scotland #Islay

finished season two of Rogue Heroes, to me, artistic licence aside, it was pretty brilliant. I suspect there will be a season three given what happened during Operation Bulbasket, but I must say I was impressed beyond expectation, on SBS in Australia.

This week, 1892: John L. Sullivan, Heavyweight Champion of the World, lost his title to 'Gentleman Jim' Corbett after one hour and 18 minutes in the ring. Sullivan's seconds said to the press: "We met a younger man, and we stayed once too long. He is an American. That's all we've got to say."
