When I saw the disgusting "trump Gaza" video this morning, the bile rose to my throat. I won't share it. Instead, help me promote this counter narrative by Tala, from Gaza. "Gaza is not yours to take. Gaza is ours, and we are still here. This is our land." BRAVO to her strength and DEFIANCE. 🥹💪

I don’t judge Mitch McConnell for his choice of political party. I judge him for his greed, racism, and hunger for power. I judge him for causing irreparable damage to the Supreme Court, and not voting to convict Donald Trump. So will others. So will history.

Canada. True. North. Strong. Free. Always have been. Always will be. Why? Because we detest the dog eat dog ideology of the American right. In Canada we look out for each other. And no thug from Mar-a-Lago will make us change.

I don't know how much illegal fentanyl flows south across the border, but I do know that however much it is it pales in comparison to the number of illegal guns flowing north across the border.

As a Canadian who has benefitted culturally, financially and in life style ways, by the US, thank you. But, I'm not prepared to accept this illegal, arbitrarily imposed 25% tariff on most Canadian goods. So, no more vacations in the US nor purchase American goods and services where at all possible.

If this country actually hired people based solely on their competence and merit we sure as shit wouldn’t be looking at the second term of an insurrectionist felon fraud who saddled our country with $8T in new debt, lost the most jobs since Herbert f’ng Hoover, and let 500K people die on his watch.

Among other things, Trump’s latest unconstitutional move will pause research on cures for childhood cancer, close homeless shelters, halt food assistance, reduce safety from domestic violence, and shut down suicide hotlines. People will die. Is this what you “price of eggs” voters wanted?

Remember, the Holocaust didn’t start with gas chambers in Auschwitz. It started with politicians dividing the people with “us vs. them”. It started with intolerance and hate speech. It started when people stopped caring, became desensitized, and turned a blind eye. Remember.

These women didn’t sit down, stay quiet, or ask for permission—they broke the rules and changed the world. Role models. We should add Bishop Mariann Budde to the list.

The Tariff Act of 1930 was designed for protectionist trade. It imposed high tariffs on over 20,000 imported goods which led to retaliatory tariffs from other countries. Why am I telling you this? In case you're ever asked "what were the key contributors to the Great Depression?" The mo' you know

We are so fucked. No one has done their homework. No one knows what fascism is. No one has read Project 2025. Our media is mostly in la la land. We have a huge election next year and people are so tuned out they can’t see we are headed in the same direction as America, or what?

One rough estimate of price increases for latest set of Trump tariffs (25% on Mexico, 25% Canada, 10% China), for a selection of goods:

Kyle Meng@kylemeng.com

Model solves for new U.S. consumer prices for all products. Here are products with US price increases >2%, up to 13%. Lots of industrial inputs & food products, unsurprisingly given CAN/MEX/PRC imports. Model doesn't have input-output linkages, so prices for downstream products may rise more. 2/3
