The "boom" ranges on our snow map for this storm are rather large. Here's why:

Metro has proactively identified 33 critical bus routes that will continue operating during the winter storm to ensure support for customers traveling to hospitals & life-sustaining facilities. These routes will run with varying frequencies. Full info: wmata.com/about/news/M...

Sleet is inevitable Sunday-freezing rain is what worries us. Sleet bounces off trees & power lines. Freezing rain glazes them & that’s when outages become a risk. It's like a sprinkled donut (sleet) vs a glazed donut (freezing rain). Freezing rain risk increases late afternoon, esp E/SE of Beltway

Nightly numbers are in. Strong snow signal remains. ❄️ Most models show 7-12 inches around Beltway. Euro AI system avg leading pack at 16 inches. GFS suite the snow-lover special. But warm air aloft could bring problematic ice, especially SE of DC. ❄️ Still snowy 🧊 Ice in play ⚠️ Fine-line forecast

Signal-boosting that the game Go (🌐 Baduk, Weiqi, Igo) is good for brain development! If you’re interested in learning, GoMagic.org is great. I also highly recommend the new Legend of Baduk app from Korea: iPhone / iPad: apps.apple.com/us/app/legen... Android: play.google.com/store/apps/d...

A mentee asked me for a relational database & SQL intro lesson. I made them a quick-start with explanations, pictures, practice questions, next steps, etc! It really helped. Now I’m sharing it with you! 😊 Send to someone who wants a good quick-start to RDBs & SQL. #100Devs #webdev #sql #edusky

@mapcenter.com Vishnu just showed me his photo of the DC Cherry Blossoms map and IT'S SO COOL! 😍

I’ve been tracking news on the AirBorne exploit since I saw @lowleveltv.bsky.social’s video on it. Update your devices, including any AirPlay-compatible peripherals.

Not sure how this cute Field Sparrow ended up in the Coachella feed but I’m not complaining lol #birdsky #birds #birding (Nice photo by the way, @dreamcatcher01.bsky.social !)

I can’t wait to try Zod 4! So many improvements! I’m particularly happy about axing ZodEffects so I can interleave .refine with the other standard validators. Nice simplification of the API. #typescript #javascript #webdev

Proud of myself for having a super productive day! Here’s what I did: 1. Took 3 bird species surveys for citizen science 2. Had a long coffeechat with a previous professor of mine 3. Did practice pair programming with a mentee who has a bunch of interviews coming up Feeling tired in a good way!

Guess what?? The nonprofit I mentor at, Resilient Coders, is on Bluesky!! Follow them please!! They do INCREDIBLE work helping people break into tech by teaching full-stack #javascript. They PAY the students, because sometimes even free is too expensive when you’ve got bills and no time to learn.

Every member of our free @resilientcoders.bsky.social software engineering cohort must get a paid client. After 5 weeks of HTML, CSS, & JS they made $40,370! Here are the contract amounts: 10000 6000 5000 2000 1500 1200 x 2 1000 x 3 900 850 800 x 2 700 x 2 670 600 500 x 3 400 x 3 350 x 5

Devs, question for you: How often do you use black-box testing where you do Input Domain Modeling and Input Space Partitioning and all that jazz? #typescript #javascript #webdev #coding

PSA There are a lot of fake E-ZPass Toll Violation Notice spam texts going around. I've gotten several. Do not click their nefarious links. They might have ".com" in the middle but if you look closely it'll say weird stuff at the end like "e-zpass .com .world" with some other letters mixed in, etc.

PSA: Smaller pull requests / merge requests are easier to review!

Any suggestions?

I’m proud to say that I’ve never - not a single time - posted an image on Bluesky without #AltText 😎

“I have more power than I give myself credit for, and today I’m going to use it!” Inspiring line from the Driller in Deep Rock Galactic, of all places 💙 ROCK AND STONE! #quote

Look I know functional state machine diagrams can be useful, but in what world is this easier than just reading the code lol

“While the bill’s name may sound like a step toward forest conservation, it does the opposite. The Fix Our Forests Act bypasses key environmental laws that protect ecosystems and restricts public input and scientific oversight. It prioritizes logging interests” #birdsky #nature #wildlife

In the coffeeshop this morning I heard an elderly gentleman explaining to his friends how to play Uno “You know those wilds and +4’s? You want to save those up so you can go after someone like click click click click click!” My heart is full
