In the last several weeks, @courtwatch.bsky.social has been behind two HUGE scoops on surveillance and security. First, they discovered Trump had resuscitated an old never-used terrorist deportation court. And today, a judge ruled cell dumps unlawful--which we know bc of CW's push last year.

Just got out of the first hearing for the alien terrorist removal court. A few quick takeaways: They’re clearly building the court as the go. DOJ, defense, and judge were thumbing through statute to answer basic questions like discovery and detention 1/2

The court’s ECF is forthcoming and will be free according to the judge so free pacer is possible. Next hearing will decide whether they can continue to detain the defendant (or respondent in this case) while proceedings continue. That hearing is not set but will likely happen sometime next week

“For this piece, we spoke with half a dozen legal experts and attorneys, reviewed far too many academic journals and law briefs, and almost convinced a judge on the court to talk to us about process.” Our Sunday deep dive on the Alien Terrorist Removal Court www.courtwatch.news/p/the-rabbit...
