Today I'm psyched to share @warppoint.games, built with @macka1080.itch.io. It's new internet made to feel like old internet, aiming to lift up small, indie videogame sites. So many cool blogs out there deserve a greater sense of community, and readers deserve better than what Google feeds them.

Key word here, "longing". The novelty of streaming has worn off. Plus enshittification has taken hold on many of them as well. Therefore, past technologies provide novelty instead.

People are pining for old technologies—CD players, VCRs, Walkmans. What’s behind our longing for inconvenience? www.newyorker.com/culture/essa...

After watching this great video into the wider problems of AI upon creative output, you can then read my paper on AI and the rise of a Luddite style response to it. pure.plymouth.ac.uk/ws/portalfil...

The latest episode of “The Backdrop” is online at @SecondWindGroup.com, looking at the end of Sora, the trailer for HBO’s “Harry Potter” reboot, and the unsettling sense of a modern pop culture calibrated to value what generative AI can produce. WATCH: youtu.be/0TEvK09XVvY?...

Ok. They’ve pissed me off. I’m back to tell you 3 things about ID cards: 1. Migrants ALREADY HAVE biometric ID cards & govts have been trying to digitise them for years w repeated fuckups & failures causing complete chaos - they don’t work, you do not want that system for you.

@fastmail.com Don't update very often, but when they do it is very meaningful! (I much prefer this approach) One of the latest additions is the ability to edit text files that are stored, which is particularly helpful if you are using it to host a basic website.

This extends to all sorts of different things. In my case writing. Get that first draft done. You can tidy it up later. But the main thing is you get those ideas down. Much better than staring at a blank page worrying about getting it perfect first time.

Just make it exist first, you can make it good later

I have just updated bits and pieces for my blog. Now page is up to date again. And the newsletter function (which was recently added) has been personalised and also now appears on the homepage. RSS still features prominently as well.
