Brazilians recommending not to amplify right-wing talking points by dunking and quoting, as a winning strategy Next day, my tl is full of people dunking on rfk jr I literally would not have seen the bigotry if it wasn't for y'all repeating it. That's exactly what the Brazilians were on about!

I'm sorry but that Save Mass Effect thing really bums me out I absolutely understand and know what it is to be profoundly impacted by such incredible works. But if BioWare projects meant a lot to you, I implore you to care more about the people who built those worlds than the fate of the IP

The additional irony of this entire situation is that yeah, you gotta consider the actual livelihoods at stake here, not just the stuff you want, even if that involves setting personal desires aside in pursuit of a better future and precedent You know... kind of like a choice in a BioWare game... 🙃

Look I wasn't even an ME gal (DA mostly) but I feel like by the end of it Shepard was weighing the fate of the galaxy more than whether she'd still get to have cool space adventures 🥲👍🏾 (It's nice if you loved the adventures. Just let it now inspire you to care about the galaxy more 🫱🏼‍🫲🏾)

We can't keep doing this. That's how we end up here, corpos buying + selling IP like real estate while folks who deserve the rewards are tossed out like collateral damage It's part of what makes execs feel confident saying oh we can just GenAI some more. Nobody cares *who* makes it We have to care

Really glad I limited replies from the jump cause wheww too many folks trying to justify the importance of keeping the IP alive, or add they *obviously* mean the devs "too" Like no girl we're saying the fate of the IP shouldn't even be a discussion when it's the PEOPLE who need to made whole

North Mist Studios is a collection of former BioWare video game developers, including senior narrative team members behind the Mass Effect and Dragon Age series. Now, we're working on a brand new title: The Concierge, a story of Canadian Assassins in a Spy-Thriller Office Drama.

This is devastating news. Eric was so talented and absolutely killin it with his work (and he was from Toronto/Scarborough!) Way too young aw man 😔💔

Many people have had their voting places change to a WHOLE OTHER STATE, where they can't get to bc there's no flights Many also report having their name unduly marked as "not allowed to vote" as if they had legal hangups when they didn't... This is a straight up a thinly veiled hostile takeover

I'd be interested in open world multiplayer online games if they were less focused on making everyone feel like main characters "Fight alongside friends as you--" nah no thanks lemme explore and collect resources and craft so I can give things to other players who actually wanna do all that 😂

I'm not great in front of crowds and don't do public speaking enough to know if I'd be any good at it, so I doubt I'll ever do something like a GDC talk ...but I *am* tempted to make a thread of all the talks I *could* give and their silly little names 🤭

Welcome to my GDC talks, featuring hits like... Shepherding Sheepdogs When You Were Promised Sheep Yes, No, & I Told You So: Wielding The Production Hammer "To Me, My Documentation!" Write It Down, You're Not Professor X Go TF To Sleep: The Hypocritic Oath JIRA and the Processes of Power

And it's 'case in point' 🥹👍🏾

There was a fucking hole in our planet’s *atmosphere* Like a legit, no joke, “this will unravel our entire ecosystem” hole in the world, and then we fixed it by working together across national and political lines As a species we decided, “we will survive” Let’s do that some more

Social media loves talking about how everything is getting worse. But what’s something that you’ve seen get _better_ in your lifetime?

Looking for game devs who have been directly inspired by anything BioWare for my next video. I suspect the public likely doesn’t quite realize the extent of their influence on the industry, so I’d really like to highlight that. If you are one such game devs, pls reply to this post!

what exactly DOES happen to materials from a major studio that’s closed? where do physical hard drives, documents, etc go? who maintains all this pointless secrecy? if you know or have stories, get in touch: nathan@aftermath.site, nathangrayson.666 (signal), aftermathdotsite@proton.me (proton mail)

Part of my literal job is to fly out to physical game studios to rescue and recover historical materials that might be endangered and put them in a permanent archive. @gamehistoryorg.bsky.social is a 501(c)3 publicly funded to do that, my DMs are open, and I'm free for the next couple weeks...

I don't have any more words beyond what's already been said, so I guess I'll just fume that every corpo C-suite who makes millions of dollars off the success of a product that makes millions of dollars while its creative labourers suffer, is a person who owes those labourers millions of dollars

I'm telling you dude it's the age of loser dipshits. This whole tech sector, from the chatbots to the art generation to the voices, is built on this idea that being good at stuff is stupid and lame and somehow by not getting to enjoy the same praise skilled people do you are being denied or slighted

KetAnthropic JoshAI@ketanjoshi.co

The first genuinely honest ad for generative AI I've ever seen, from Microsoft / CoPilot A mediocre white guy sees his non-white colleague getting praised for good work, he asks AI to *literally copy it*, and then he gets all the praise instead: www.ispot.tv/ad/SoDi/micr...

Wild how folks will go "how do you know you're right?" as if AI invented knowing things for certain People work or study for years to gain expertise, so that they have the knowledge and skill to do things more accurately and efficiently. This is called "learning" and we used to do it all the time

Ghostly Bree@mostlybree.kitrocha.com

this is a pretty good point that often is getting lost coming and going. it's about expertise, man. and I know that a lot of the AI stuff is romanticizing the idea that you don't need to have it, but you actually still kind of do, if you want anyone with expertise to take you seriously.

AI doesn't remove barriers for amateurs, it harms them I think about it like: F is a failing grade, someone gives you a cheat to ensure Cs. You use it. But your teacher knows there's a cheat out there, so now *all* the C and D folks who were honestly doing their best get scrutinized more heavily

Thankfully teacher's an expert, they'll get those grades in fairly. But it's more work for them, and it makes the other students nervous about even trying You contributed to the mess cause you'd rather a guaranteed C than potential F; but who knows what grade you would have gotten had *you* tried

The post down the quotes was calling an expert rejecting AI-assumed things "overconfidence", but uhh no? Like the issue isn't "they might reject honest entries", cause experts will use their um... expertise. AI's just created a type of "bad" that's more annoying to deal with, requires more scrutiny

Hey I discovered that you can opt out of Blue Sky Starter Packs today! Also if someone follows you from a Starter Pack, it will tell you which one so you can go to it and opt out. The person who made the pack will have to manually remove you, but they do get a notification you've opted out.

Executive dysfunction and task/decision paralysis has eaten months if not years of my life. Countless things I am fully capable of and willing/eager to do that I can't initiate because my brain is a mess. What I would give to be free of it 😑
