Welcome to the party, StL! In KC we hate the state control of the PD too. I really, really hate that the entire state gets to vote on how the PDs of cities a hundred miles from them are handled.

Tony Messenger@tonymess.bsky.social

Why was there a slowdown in workers’ comp settlements with St. Louis police officers? And why did a private law firm have to become involved? More questions arise from the convoluted state takeover of the city’s police department. See link to column in first comment.

Gotta keep those Slovenian .si domains relevant.

Trump: "We will be officially BANNING the term, 'AI/Artificial Intelligence,' in all relevant documents, and everything else, due to its inaccuracy. Thank you for your attention to this matter. President DONALD J. TRUMP"

I am now a 45 year old millennial. Here is my resume (not in chrono order): -Claire's manager -Audio support/on air talent for large events (i.e. LOTO Shootout/Magic Dragon Street Meet Nationals) -Executive assistant to a classic/collectible car dealer -Managed a bookstore....

-Credit/debit card fraud analyst -Managed a mini-storage -Managed a big box store snack bar (it's harder than it sounds!) -Sold timeshares -HR manager for 40+ bookstores -HR business partner for a multi-national book distributor

Quiet? Really? In Missouri, we're voting on abortion rights for the second time in two years and this time they've added anti-trans ballot candy to the amendment. Fuck off with this "the abortion debate has gone quiet" bull shit.

Cristin reposted

There are ways around this. They involve trusts. Get your aging parents to talk to a lawyer to keep their assets protected.

if millennials could afford homes this wouldnt be a problem but this is going to hit the generation like a truck

My family learned this after my grandmother needed to move into an assisted living facility. Grandmother passed away after three weeks in assisted living. We were able to keep her house. Now that we know, my 76 yo mother has had no property in her name in years. Nothing to take, just in case.

BREAKING: Republican Missouri Secretary of State Denny Hoskins has now asked the federal judge who issued last night's TRO over Missouri's congressional map to issue an order blocking the Missouri Supreme Court from holding him (Hoskins) in contempt. storage.courtlistener.com/recap/gov.us...

MO Voters: We want and voted for expanded Medicare! MO GOP: No, we think we know better than you. MO Voters: We don't want an abortion ban amendment and voted against it! MO GOP: No, we think we know better than you and will put it on the ballot again with anti-trans ballot candy this time!

Jess Piper@piperformissouri.bsky.social

What you need to understand is Missouri is a laboratory of autocracy. The billionaires and the GOP have been in cahoots for decades to see how they could disrupt democracy. What you see happening with our maps and our Secretary of State is pure chaos. Chaos for the sake of chaos…to disrupt voting.

I love what @kcstreetcar.org does with our streetcars, but something like this would have been amazing.

I got a new phone. Last new phone was in 2017. Some of my must have apps started being no longer compatible. This is amazing!!!!!! Going from a Galaxy S10 to a Galaxy S24 Ultra.

Yay, Missouri! We did it!!!! When there's not an R or D next to something, we tend to vote on the progressive side. I wish MO Republican voters would think a little harder about that...

I may delete this but I need help. I work from home. I'm in my 40's and single. I have lived in my city (KCMO) for three years but haven't found friends. I joined a local Starfleet chapter, the ST fan org, but haven't had luck making friends. Any ideas?

This makes me miss my maroon '89 Grand Prix, which was my first car, so much!!!! I loved that car so much.

Schmitt is one of my Senators. I just emailed him telling him how appalled I am at his statements on this show.

Aaron Rupar@atrupar.com

Benny Johnson tells an agreeing Sen. Eric Schmitt that "the left is setting themselves up, they're training, they're ready to try and stage a mass slaughter event" "Yeah," Schmitt replies. "They're drawing federal officers out and then they have snipers."

I was going though my Google Drive due to the Gemini setting thing and found my old chatsaves from Ten Forward/Outpost TF (a HTML #StarTrek chatroom) and how I miss those people. If you used to hang there, let me know! I'd love to reconnect! I am/was Gates.

THE WIZARD IS BACK! You have been cursed with a lot of money! You are going to become not just permanently brain damaged, but SUPER evil, incapable of doing good, if you use the money for anything that isn't ridiculous. To break the curse, you must spend it on something ridiculous. What say you?

One of my biggest regrets in life is not changing my plans when flying through DC to London on Oct 30th, 2010, to attend the Rally to Restore Sanity and/or Fear with Stephen Colbert and Jon Stewart. Will be watching Stephen tonight trying to hold back tears!

Same! I love my diverse neighborhood.

Joel S.@joelhs.bsky.social

I quite happily live in a neighborhood where most people do not share my religion, where multiple languages are represented, and where people have come from a lot of different countries. Bigoted assholes always assume everyone else actually shares their bigotries.

It's Trans Day of Visibility today. If you're trans and are raising money for something (I don't care what it is), reply to this thread and I will boost you. If you are a cis person, take a look and find someone to support if you can. Everyone give this a share after.

Ugh, where's @genesvision when I need them! I miss Trek Twitter. :(

Cristin@crisclc.bsky.social

Ok. I'm fresh off con energy & as a woman Trekkie since the '80s I need to say this. Gene was a cheater. The studio was shitty about women and minorities in leadership roles. But Gene also wanted a woman to be the first officer. Gene wanted the bridge to represent all of the Earth.

If it wasn't obvious, my sister and I do duo cosplays. Here's her equivalent costumes: She was the Marilyn Monroe inspired Harley Quinn. She was the animated Lydia Deetz. She was the Goldie Hawn to my Meryl Streep, playing Helen Sharp with in the red dress with a hole through her stomach!

Hey con people! I have a question. Does anyone know what's happened with Pop-Up Lockers? They're supposed to be at Planet Comicon in KCMO this weekend, but I can't get any response from anyone there.

I actually have quite a few of these "facts that are 100% true but sound false." Here's another: Some kid's parents yelled for them to come home. Mine turned on the WW2 anti-aircraft searchlight in our front yard. I had a weird childhood.

Tell me a random fact about yourself that sounds fake but is 100% true.

As someone who lives in a World Cup '26 host city, I'm not sure what to expect. KC will either be complete hell for a month or us locals will get an intimate experience with the visiting teams.

another World Cup ad:

Me and my sister do cosplay. We like to do duos. We've done Beetlejuice and Lydia, Madeline and Helen from Death Becomes Her (my pfp), Wonder Woman & Etta Candy, Mighty Thor & Lady Loki, among others. But this year we may be doing characters that are sisters for the first time. Stay tuned.
