New Shabazz Palaces record today. Get to see Digable Planets perform Blowout Comb tonight. Clear skies and waxing gibbous on deck. Let’s go Friday. 🌔

Me + my first scroll, “Hexagram 48 (The Source)”. Features 120 dreams from visitors of past installations. Inspired by the I Ching: “The rope must go down all the way into the well if you want to draw fresh water.” In a group exhibit at the Riffe Gallery in Columbus, Oct 31, 2026—Jan 8, 2027.

A good read—or listen as I did.

"What we have is, quite literally, a chair designed by someone who has read a lot about chairs but never actually sat in one." I wrote about AI, carpentry, and Enzo Mari, for @emergencemagazine.bsky.social. You can read (or listen to) it here: emergencemagazine.org/essay/benchm...

Currently enjoying @rurza.bsky.social's Winyl web app for sessions when I'm listening to albums on Apple Music straight through. Much less chaotic than my regular AM environment. Elegant and thoughtful. winyl.app +I've been using his Neptunes app daily for a number of years as well—also great.

Vancouver people: Regardless of whether you've voted yet, this is a great resource for getting a sense of the temperature from candidates (those who cared enough to respond) on core questions around the future arts and creativity in Vancouver. #Vanpoli

Mark Busse@markbusse.bsky.social

VANCOUVER VOTERS: I asked 36 mayoral and council candidates four direct questions about who gets to stay, where creativity happens, how much experimentation this city can tolerate, and whose creativity counts. Read their answers before you vote. medium.com/@markbusse/f...

This is a huge issue for my family and all the visual artists, designers, musicians etc that make up our community! More, AFFORDABLE artist studio spaces. More venues that have the chance to plan and grow without looking over their shoulders every step of the way. ⚡️ 🗳️ ⚡️

When it's raining outside, you need a place to go to laugh, dance, see art, and enjoy culture, but those places are closing down in Vancouver faster than they're opening up. Let's fix that. Read more about our plan to make Vancouver a fun city: www.onecityvancouver.ca/platform/vib...

More than occasionally, I remind people that @jamesbridle.bsky.social wrote this book, and it’s very much worth reading *at least* once.

James Bridle@jamesbridle.bsky.social

Occasionally I would like to remind people that I wrote a whole book about this. Intelligence is multiple, embodied, and relational, and what matters is different intelligences working together for mutual flourishing.

THIS. ⚡️🗳️⚡️

OneCity Vancouver@onecityvan.bsky.social

A city that forgets to invest in its artists forgets what makes it worth living in. Right now, the artist running a DIY venue out of a warehouse and the musician whose regular venue faces closure on whichever Council happens to be in power that year. We'll fix that.

Stoked!

Just realized this one turned 10 this year. Happy belated anniversary to Gold Panda’s “Good Luck and Do Your Best”, a record that’s got a lot of joyful rotation in our home over the years.

It vexes me to no end that so many people have willingly ceded their taste to a fucking algorithm. Not knowing what to watch, read, or listen to next is one of the most exciting problems a person can have.

hellaniche, a new project launches at @vancouverartbookfair.com this weekend. Kicking this chapter off, we’ll have some new stuff at the table to celebrate. If you’re in the city, come through and say hi! #vabf2026 #vabf #vancouverartbookfair #artbooks #artbookfair

Many of you may have seen images from the series of street trees I’ve been making for a number of years. I’ll have a new zine, Vedettes, at the table that holds 21 more of these images that are appearing for the first time in print.

Along with the new zine, we’ll have hellaniche t-shirts, stickers, prints and selections from the back catalogue including Umwelt and limited copies of each of the five Surrounded volumes. Hope to see you there! ✌️

The Vancouver Art Book Fair is looking for volunteers! 🗓 May 15–17, 2026 📍 Roundhouse Community Arts & Recreation Centre 📧 To apply, email volunteers@vancouverartbookfair.com with your availability.

Local weather commentary: 'vigorous cold front' wtf. Spring, I *finally* believed in you and your potential as a bringer of warmth and positive change. Who hurt you? Sincerely, Crompsy

"Wouldn’t it be nice if there were a planet where the sound of rain falling is like Bach?” This quote from Oliver Sacks via Bill Hayes (Insomniac City) is resonating now as I sit in a cabin in the northwest coast rainforest.

It’s true. I’ve detected zero fuckery in my use of it. I love the clarity of the design objective. Lean, beautiful and functional.
