COPE: The Coalition of Progressive Electors

THANK YOU, VANCOUVER! Last night, we made history in Vancouver by electing 12 COPE candidates to city council, school board, and park board as part of a progressive sweep that pushed out every person from Ken Sim’s team except one.

I think we should give a lot of credit to how hard he worked. It was clear (to this voter, at least) that @seanorr.bsky.social took his new job very seriously and was prepared to give it his all. I can’t be the only one who noticed and we saw the results last night.

Thank you, Vancouver. We did it!! This win would not have been possible without each and every one of you: the volunteers who spent countless hours talking to people; to every one of you who donated; and every voter who trusted @copevancouver with their vote. I am deeply humbled and grateful.

Honoured to be part of a collective victory many years in the making in Vancouver. I'll do the work of a school trustee conscientiously, and continue to dare to imagine and articulate the case for a different system and a better world.

Today, the Vancouver Police Department issued a release saying "when it comes to the perception of public safety, the facts matter." In 2020, when the crime rate in the city was down, Vancouver Police Department Chief Adam Palmer argued that feelings mattered as much as facts.
