“If you admit the danger, you establish yourself as the one honest actor. [Therefore] your safety claims do not require external verification. You have pre-certified yourself through the performance of self-doubt. The confession is not transparency. It is inoculation against scrutiny.”

om.coThe Myth, the Mythos and the ManFor a while I have been wondering why Anthropic named its most powerful AI model Mythos. A safety company. A company whose entire justification for existing is that someone needs to tell the truth …

Apple News is so littered with garbage ads as to be totally fucking useless. I'm done. And I pay for this shit?? Steve Jobs would be yadda, yadda, yadda... Fuck Apple News and the exec responsible for this trash.

There’s a reason we shamed nerds for most of human history. It is time to shame them again.

Palantir CEO Alex Karp: "What makes America special right now is our lethal capacities. Our ability to fight war."

AI threatens to replace a lot of things humans and are good at, but it can't replace the food experience – a great meal with people you care about, prepared by people who care about food and know how to make it delicious. I'm long on humans + food.

MAGA and the idiot savants of tech talk about the risk population collapse while they advocate for mass deportation. It’s almost like they are elitist, racist, eugenicist, rapist twats. But I’m sure I just don’t understand.

The Weather Station last night in SF was a great show. Loved Tamara’s observation about SF: “How can a place surrounded by so much natural beauty be so focused on taking people away from reality and connection?”

There’s a lot of money in contaminated foods. Selling it and treating the illness it causes. It’s really a win-win.

Last night was the 250th anniversary of Paul Revere's midnight ride to warn the Minutemen of approaching British troops. I want to take a moment to share an excerpt from the Declaration of Independence's grievances against King George III. Remind you of anyone?

What did paying taxes ever do for you, besides: paving your roads, keeping your food safe, educating your children, defending you against foreign enemies, funding research that saved your life, etc, etc, etc. what a scam /s

It’s insane how many one way doors there are in TurboTax where once you answer a question it can have a huge impact and there’s no way to go back or understand wtf it just did. You basically just have to start all over again. After all these years you still can’t fix this shit?

Those trying to understand the tariffs as economic policy are dangerously naive. No, the tariffs are a tool to collapse our democracy. A means to compel loyalty from every business that will need to petition Trump for relief. 1/ A 🧵 to explain his plan and how we fight back.

"Attorneys also accused the federal government of... creating warrants in the field after the arrests."

First they came for undocumented people, and no one spoke up Then they came for people on tourist visas and student visas Then they came for legal permanent residents Now they are detaining U.S. citizens with no warrants and no due process Who will speak up now?

Violence against property is not the same as violence against people. Is it wrong? Sure. But classifying it as an equivalent form of violence is going to result in real violence against people by their government. This is one of my biggest fears right now.

Probably gonna use that hat as a get out of jail free card.

if the democratic party had a functional propaganda arm it could make a lot of hay of the fact that a non-trivial number of MAGA personalities and politicians are child sex offenders
