I do #promosky posts like once a year, but a new Ghost in the Shell anime releases in 6 days, and Edgerunners 2 releases this fall. I'm CyNetrunner. The cyberpunk genre is my entire personality. Computer science and math my field. RPGs my games. Sci-fi, dark fantasy, and horror my themes.

After being out all day, I got home and am exhausted. No stream this evening, but our unlife as a vampire in Los Angeles will continue this Wednesday. Excited to replay this game even more, and yap non-stop about World of Darkness lore. It's one of my favorite TTRPG settings of all time.

Game 44, 2026: Silver Pines I pitch this game the same way it got my attention. A Steam review described it as a beautiful mix of Resident Evil, Silent Hill, Twin Peaks, and David Lynch. I didn't realize how accurate that was. The artstyle and ambient music heavily reminded me of Disco Elysium.

I played on the 2nd highest difficulty which the devs say is the intended experience, "Survival Horror." The beginning could be brutal especially with the limited save system. You save by spending $1 at phone booth. But that money could also be used to buy resources at vending machines.

It took a bit of adjusting, but ultimately it wasn't too bad. If you have prior survival horror experience, you'll adapt quickly. My favorite horror titles are those like Signalis where the story makes you reflect and process the game long after finishing. Currently doing that with Silver Pines.

A year ago I was a horror newbie. A full year and half later, I'm a horror veteran who's went through all of RE, SH, SOMA, Signalis, and so on. I have my favorites from these, but Silver Pines definitely shot itself quickly up the list. Thanks to it, I learned what rotoscoping in animation is.

Had an amazing conclusion to Silver Pines, and finally started a replay of Vampire the Masquerade Bloodlines after almost a decade. Big shoutouts to @ziggyprincess1.bsky.social and @notelkz.net for the double raids. 🥺

I kept my word, and am finally doing an early stream for once. Let's conclude Silver Pines, and start our next game for Spooktober. www.twitch.tv/cynetrunner

We gonna skip 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, and 9 and go straight to Half Life X.

Valve composer & sound designer Mike Morasky seemingly slips up & mentions "HLX" in a Q&A conference: "...Deadlock has its own version of HDR, HLX has its own" ▶️ vimeo.com/1234454770 HLX is the rumored codename for a new Half-Life game or Half-Life 3 according to dataminers

The new Star Wars racing game makes me wish Nintendo makes a new F-Zero game. There are lot normal car racing games, but not a lot of sci-fi pew pew racing games. Also did you know Captain Falcon in the F-Zero anime used the Falcon Punch only one time?

Different circumstances, same Night City. 🌃 Check out how Cyberpunk: Edgerunners 2 recreates locations from Cyberpunk 2077 in anime form! Have you spotted any other familiar places from the game in the show? 👀

70 percent of the internet was vulnerable yesterday to very bad security flaws inside a coding language. Turns out, *one volunteer* is mostly responsible for maintaining that code & helping push updates. Yesterday Ondřej Surý saved the internet. So I called him up www.theatlantic.com/technology/2...

Damn. A spy thriller space opera story where you work under Liara the Shadow Broker? This much had so much potential and hope. This is just pouring salt into the wound.

Can confirm that this is a real trailer of the Mass Effect game that BioWare was developing up until its closure yesterday www.reddit.com/r/masseffect...

This is a post from Michal Nowakowski, one of the joint CEOs of CDPR. Without Bioware, CDPR might not have created Witcher 1. Without Witcher 1, there is no Witcher 2 nor 3 nor Cyberpunk 2077. This is the level of Bioware's influence, and the size of today's loss to RPG gaming.

Without Bioware, there's no Baldur's Gate. Dragon Age Origins was first cRPG, and 2nd fantasy game I played after Witcher 1 and 2. One of my best friends and I first bonded over Mass Effect . While the studio was on the decline, it's still sad to see it shut down like this.

BREAKING: Electronic Arts is cutting 400 jobs and shutting down BioWare, the legendary development studio behind Dragon Age and Mass Effect. www.bloomberg.com/news/article...

I am extremely looking forward to my next playthrough of Cyberpunk 2077 with the new cyberware customization. This is a feature that some mods implemented, but people have been requesting in the base game since the start. Night City is all about style and fashion.

Compiling a list of every Metroid and Castlevania game in release order together. Metroid titles are straightforward. But damn is Castlevania a mess of so many different titles, some of which are multiple remakes of another game, some locked to obscure systems. 😭

CyNetrunner@cynetrunner.bsky.social

As I play through all Zelda games for the first time...it might be time to finally start and play all Metroid and Castlevania games for the first time. 👀🤔 I have officially started my retro gaming arc.

I haven't finished the new Ghost in the Shell anime since I wanted to re-read the manga. Since Edgerunners season 2 released, and Neuromancer releasing next year, it's time I re-read all classic cyberpunk novels and manga. Starting with the series that got me into the genre at the age of 11.

Ok so the thing is that I am seeing a lot of people assuming s2 takes place before 2077 but it doesn't, it takes place in 2078. Moving things forward, time doesn't stop in Cyberpunk.

I want to correct a misunderstanding I'm seeing in early reviews of edgerunners s2 but I won't do so until it's actually out and it's killing me

Currently playing Link's Awakening, but I set up Ocarina of Time SoH version on PC with mods. There was a graphics conflict between two texture mods, and for a moment Link turned into...Lonk.

I went with the Switch remake version. It's a shame Nintendo titles rarely go on sale. So thankful to have a friend lend me his physical copy. Been a long time since I've touched a physical copy of a game lmao. Also super happy the Switch 2 update fixes all the framerate issues. 😌

CyNetrunner@cynetrunner.bsky.social

Debating whether to play Link's Awakening GBC version or the Switch remake version. But in the meantime, why's there a giant Yoshi egg on the mountain

I'M ON A BOAT. To fix this boat, I needed an engine part...that was 6x3 and took up most of my inventory. 🥲

Resuming our journey through Silver Pines. Fingers crossed no more technical issues pop up tonight. www.twitch.tv/cynetrunner

Several technical issues caused me to restart the stream 4-5 times. Narrowed issue to a boss fight in Silver Pines, and how it interacts with OBS while streaming. Fought the boss offstream, resumed stream afterwards with no issue. Was feeling a bit down...until I came a horse I could pet. 🥺

Game 43, 2026: A Link to the Past It honestly feels like Zelda 1 and Zelda 2 were prototype experiments, and LttP is the "true" first Zelda game. It's in this game we get the Master Sword, more details on the Trifoce, and the start of this unending cycle of Link, Zelda, and Ganon. (1/n)

For people who want to play an older Zelda title, but aren't hyperfixated like me and don't need to start from the first game ever, Link to the Past is the best entry point. While there's a few small things that can be annoying (the save and quit system), the game has aged quite well. (2/n)

As a lifelong Pokemon fan, I can say for sure my childhood self would've enjoyed this game so much had I gotten the GBA copy. But I'm still glad I got to play it for the first time as an adult. I hope this game gets a remake akin to Link's Awakening. Cause it really deserves it. (3/n)

As a lifelong Pokemon fan, I'm just realizing how Zelda DNA exists within Pokemon, especially when it came to HM moves. 👀 Ocarina - Fly Magic Hammer - Rock Smash Zora Flippers - Surf Titan Glove - Strength Hookshot - Rock Climb

Fashionably late, but better late than never. Let us continue searching for Eddie Velvet. www.twitch.tv/cynetrunner
