A lesson about feedback I learned at obsidian was from what feargus called "the rock game". You tell someone to bring you a rock, any rock. No, not that rock, more red. No, not that one, a bit bigger. Actually, smaller. Hmm, probably should be igneous, though...

I’m always morbidly fascinated with what sort of justifications creators come up with for AI usage (especially here in Japan). And lol? Mostly it seems to boil down to them hating people and sucking at communication. Like what even is this:

Penelope Cruz was in a bunch of movies i watched over people's shoulders on the very many flights i took in the last few weeks and I don't know how I've made it this far in life without having a huge crush on her Problem is rectified now tho

You think you'd be good and smooth at time travel, that you wouldn't act a fool like Marty McFly, but then you read about how no one called it a "mullet" until the '90s and you realize you wouldn't last five minutes before someone in an AMC Pacer gave you one of these

Oh hey chooms Amazing to play with the one and only maximum mike Do we all make it to the end? Watch and see

The crew? Assembled. The dice? Ready! What could possibly go wrong? The first episode of our special Cyberpunk Pen & Paper session is here, with the one and only Mike Pondsmith from RTalsorian Games running the game! youtu.be/PBmkJbK3NGw

if voting didn't matter they wouldn't be working so hard to stop you

The long-serving strongman leader of Serbia, Aleksandar Vucic, has conceded defeat in an election that pitted him and his right-wing party against a diverse student-led opposition movement that spent two years protesting his government.

Anti-trans Democrats are spreading poison when we can least afford it, during elections in this ongoing fascist takeover. As a strategy, it’s a recipe for failure. As a moral stand, it’s reprehensible. PS I’m the father of young trans woman and I’ll never forgive anyone who makes her life harder.

There's a lot of really stupid people on the Bsky today saying that Political Purity Is Good, and let me tell you, these people are wrong, these people are idiots, and these people are so much the reason why the left can't build persistent power in this country that you wonder if they're GOP plants.

I'll be honest when I see big titty mods of my characters I know I was cooking

Being a video game writer has to be hell. >write asshole character called "Jimmy the Asshole" >be bombarded with complaints that Jimmy's an asshole >legions of tumblrites that inexplicably want to fuck him >republicans unironically admire him >800,000 downloads for BIG TITTY ANIME JIMMY on Nexus

If you live in Boston (or if you just want to support a historic theater and music space), I have good news: you can help save the Somerville Theater

Somerville Theatre@somerville-theatre.bsky.social

Hey Somerville... Guess what?  WE BOUGHT THE BUILDING. The Somerville Theatre now belongs to the people who run it. Buying it was our leap of faith. Supporting it is where you come in. Find how you can help: somervilletheatre.com/future

So, at risk of damaging my already borderline reputation among my peers*, one thing that does bother me about the ai declarations is that, at least among the bskyerati, there's zero difference between a pure slop and an original game that uses "ai" for something we've been automating for decades

Ai isn't one thing, it's a blanket designation given to dozens of different technologies and tools, some of which are just evolutions of tools that have been in use since before some of the people complaining about them were born

I fear all the people wishing Valve would add a way to filter out games with AI declarations might not quite be grasping the dimensions of the problem.

This appeals to my interests. Trains, not freezing to death, uh, trains

This is fun - to find out your wizard name, carefully write out your real current name then right after that add “the Wizard.” We did this at a party last week and had some big laughs.

Once again I'm telling people to play Corru.Observer - one of the coolest things ever made to be played in a browser. It is a sprawling, genre-hopping sci-fi mystery with multiple albums of soundtrack now. Excellently written, both in terms of loveable characters and speculative hard sci-fi stuff.

Nearly every actual play I've tried to get into has had a ~*HiLaRiOuS*~ joke character, sometimes more than one. Even the (extremely good) Glass Cannon production of Impossible Landscapes had a guy basically playing as Duke Nukem.

I think this is a pretty lukewarm take but it’s instructive: ME2 has the better narrative design; ME1 has the better writing.

Dr. Samantha Hancox-Li@sjshancoxli.liberalcurrents.com

ME2 is such a quantum leap forward in terms of graphics and gameplay that it really disguises how much worse it is at worldbuilding and narrative coherence
