It always comes back to this for me; if AI was so good, such a disclosure would be a selling point. If AI was everything these slop jockeys said it was, they should be proud to let people know their game was AI made. But the proof is in the pudding, and they can't stand that people don't want it.

I can't believe he's still at it, it's been days

i feel like pretty soon there's gonna be an ethical organization that verifies if something was made with ai or not with a stamp of approval

i struggle getting behind games that focus too much on having "retro psx/ps2 graphics" as their selling point. i feel like it spends too much time on imitation instead of inovation, which is what made the psx/2 era so cool to begin with

psx/2 devs weren't *trying* to look bad. they were working miracles with the limitations they had and doing actual wizard shit to make these games run on that hardware. modern devs arent pushing the boundaries of a psx/2, they're limiting polycounts and building a game in unity

which theres nothing wrong with low-poly games, i just find myself bothered that a majority of these games come out as resident evil isometric shooters instead of building something thats pushing the boundaries of the hardware its imitating

finally finished this damn game last night ghosts aint shit

the first fatal frame game is the bane of my existence fuck them ghosts

the first fatal frame is okay. its one of the many clunky horror backtracking games that released within the ps2 era that only really shines in its atmosphere. the ghost to healing item ratio is so ridiculous that its more effective to just reload the save than to lose a single ounce of health

which means you're saving > finding key item > running back to a savepoint over and over again inching your way through to avoid getting softlocked later when you have no health to survive the bs ghost fights thank god this game doesn't use save ribbons

can we try trickle up economics now or something i dont think the original plan is working

some fkn animal outside is ding dong shitting at my front door this is the second time theres been a cat-sized turd on my porch what the hell man what did i do

got a sore throat so i went into the store to get cough drops and among the wall of ricolas and generic brands of menthol psuedocandies i found a box that looked like something a weathered old man would tell me is the only cure to my ailment so i got it and sure enough that shit works like a charm

One of the most depressing parts of the advent of genAI is it fundamentally changes how I approach and view new art I find. The excitement I feel for any piece I see is tempered and, in essence, tainted by a degree of suspicion, and I think that's sad.

Eww.

Jason Schreier@jasonschreier.bsky.social

NEW: Epic Games has delayed its upcoming (not yet announced) Star Wars + Marvel shooter as it pivots to complete AI game development. "No more hand-written code," a director told staff. All art "generated with full AI workflows." Full scoop: www.bloomberg.com/news/article...

ive had james ivy's "the seams" album on repeat since it came out i am so addicted to the melancholy of it god its so good

happy spooky month the scariest thing is rent being due oh shit just scared myself writing that

im always baffled by the amount of young people who don't know how to use a computer like even for very basic things

i think society would be a substantially better place if men who sexually assault women were put in the brazen bull

relevant again

cyran@cyranatlas.com

seeing more and more people just slowly accept ai in everything like i can feel the annoyance and dismissal in my friends when i point it out as if im too high on my moral pedistal for them

im coming to the realization that faithful adaptations are incredibly boring like its actually more interesting to see what the director thinks they can do better and sometimes they do a really good job

the source material will continue to exist regardless of the adaptation so why not have a little fun with it

they aren't even trying to keep you as customers anymore they know they're too big to fail and will wring out every fraction of a penny they can from your attention span

Dexerto@dexerto.bsky.social

Microsoft has filed a patent for ads that could interrupt games after boss fights, cutscenes, quests and multiplayer rounds Players would receive credits granting temporary game access, while watching an ad would award another credit to let them resume

no need to repeat myself this applies here too bsky.app/profile/cyra...

there are thousands upon thousands of games and media out there that have existed way before all this ai shit so if you're really against genai explore and support older media, don't cave in
