Might I offer up the 11/22 game between IU Indy and Maryland-Eastern Shore in Youngstown, Ohio? Honorable mention: The single-season home-and-home between North Florida and South Dakota (12/3 and 12/12).

What game are you looking most forward to this season? For me it's the 11/13 game between West Florida and Cleveland State in Huntsville, Alabama.

1. Georgetown pretty clearly aimed to schedule five high-majorish games and seven bottom 100 games OOC. GW doesn't fit that. 2. The exhibition is a win for both schools. GW gets a big crowd, Hoyas don't have to travel for a rowdy preseason road environment and get credit for being a good neighbor.

Hey Patrick, why do you think GW and Gtown won't schedule a regular season matchup? We're on our second straight year of exhibition games.

I should say bottom-100ish. Navy was obviously much better than that last year. Regardless, it's pretty clear Georgetown wanted no part of the 75-200 range.

It's the second time Locksley has been the first FBS head coach fired in a season. Also happened in 2011 at New Mexico. This is also the deepest into a season before the first FBS head coaching firing since Oct. 21, 2012, when Robb Akey was fired by Idaho (which was then an FBS program).

Locksley's buyout is a little north of $9.7 million, which is (by a significant amount) the most Maryland has paid for a coach not to coach. DJ Durkin got about $5.5 million. Mark Turgeon's buyout was $5 million. Randy Edsall's was a little north of $3 million. Ralph Friedgen's was $2 million.

Maryland's record under Locksley in games started by Taulia Tagovailoa: 22-17 Maryland's record under Locksley in games NOT started by Taulia Tagovailoa: 16-32 It's not *all* about quarterback play, but certainly some of it's about quarterback play.

The technical side is admittedly far from a finished product (for example, a logo is TBD), but I'll get there on that and other fronts with your help. See you courtside.

I'm really excited to get this project off the ground, and the hope is there will be enough interest and support to take it well beyond this season. There are a lot of excellent college basketball stories in the D.C./Baltimore corridor, and I'm looking forward to telling as many as I can.

There are already some items up from over the last few days, with plenty more on the way after visiting schools throughout the region over the last month. So take a look around, subscribe to the Mid-Atlantic College Hoops newsletter and consider upgrading to full access.

Monachino (salary: $1.25 million) was due approximately $253,425 through the end of the calendar year. His buyout is 75% of his remaining base and supplemental pay. So he gets about $190,068, and Maryland saves roughly $63,000.

Maryland football announces that defensive coordinator and outside linebackers coach Ted Monachino was fired. Aazaar Abdul-Rahim takes over as DC the rest of the year on Mike Locksley’s staff, and inside linebackers coach Zac Spavital is the co-defensive coordinator.

Seeing what there is to see in Foggy Bottom tonight as Georgetown and George Washington meet in an exhibition game. * Vince Iwuchukwu is playing for for Georgetown. NJ Benson is not. * GW's starting five is 6-4 (Aranguren), 6-6 (Arceneaux), 6-6 (Witherspoon), 6-8 (Urbiha) and 6-9 (James).

Ed Cooley letting Georgetown playing through some tension. Got up 63-50, gave up 10 in a row, then got a Caleb Williams airball. Only Iwuchukwu dove after it to keep it in bounds, Kayvaun Mulready tracked it down and then scramble to get up a successful 3 at the shot clock buzzer. Under-8, 66-60.

Georgetown collects a 76-68 exhibition victory at George Washington. Jaland Lowe with 19 points for the Hoyas; seven others with between six and eight points. Omari Witherspoon had 16 for GW. Jean Aranguren didn't play in the second half for the Revs after taking an elbow in the first half.

Took more than 15 minutes for Georgetown to commit a turnover tonight (and even then it was an illegal screen whistled on Iwuchukwu), which is the single most striking thing about the first half of this thing.

Georgetown and George Washington tied at 38 at the half. Hoyas led by as many as 11. Omari Witherspoon with 13 points for GW, which ended the half on a far-too-easy Promis N'Landu driving layup when Georgetown had two 7-footers on the floor.

CFP adding playoff berths like NASCAR built megaspeedways in every town outside the south with a decent airport in the 2000s — before eventually realizing places like North Wilkesboro make the sport work, not tracks in exurban Phoenix or wherever that looked and raced exactly like every other track.

The Nationals and Cade Cavalli are nearing a contract extension that would buy out at least one of his free agent years, per source. Young staff ace still has 3 years of arbitration eligibility, wouldn't be free agent until 2030. (FanSided's Robert Murray was first to report nearing a deal.)

Miami’s Sandy Alcantara (13-8) vs. Cade Cavalli (12-5) today on South Capitol Street. Last time the Nats were involved in a matchup of two 12-game winners was Sept. 16, 2019 (17-6 Stephen Strasburg at 15-7 Dakota Hudson). Last time in D.C.: Aug. 23, 2018 (16-5 Max Scherzer vs. 14-3 Aaron Nola).

An absolute prince of man who was a delight to talk with before games and part of the fabric of the ACC experience. RIP.
