This has been the most influential talk for me in the past year. It has given me some useful lenses to clarify my thinking around LLM usage. For example, why do I dislike LLM generated images in blogposts and presentations?

Here's a recording of my talk on the role of computers in making art, including so-called "AI", which was presented as the opening keynote of SIGGRAPH 2025, incorporating lessons from the history of computer graphics, photography, modern art, and philosophy of art. www.youtube.com/watch?v=c2YR... 1/

Two points from the talk 1. Just call it art. "Is it art?" is often a fruitless question. 2. Art is a social behavior and we communicate our values using and talking about art.

So I don't like text-to-image in a blogpost because it communicates to me that the author doesn't value the image beyond just visual stimulation. There have been no aesthetic considerations, let alone ethical ones.

"Ok I need to buckle down at work" * 15 minutes later * "Well I absolutely needed to code a script to show in the menu bar what song is currently playing. I'm sure I can focus on work henceforth."

Everyone’s seen the Sketchpad demo. Few understand how it actually works. I reimplemented Sketchpad from scratch, and I’m making short videos that recreate Sutherland’s demos and explain how they work. The first 8 are up — from drawing a line to the famous rivet. Link below 👇

YouTube search isn't as functional as I would expect coming from a company owned by the global leader in search. I would think it would be easier to find videos that you've already watched.

Buffering but for video games. Just like listening to the first chapter while you download the rest of an audiobook, you should be able to play the beginning of a video game as the rest of it downloads.

It was an honor to be on the first episode of this podcast and Saleh was such a great host ❤️

I would like to see more companies admit this - being a public company no longer means running a successful, thriving business. It strictly means delivering growth to investors, every single quarter, who do not care at all about the product the company sells or the people who produce it.

I just got around to watching this. I love it so much. Looks amazing for game jams. Good job Lilith and congratulations to @inkandswitch.com for yet another smash hit.

Backstitch (backstitch.dev) brings Automerge-based collaboration and version control to the Godot game engine. It's is vastly more usable than Git, and a lovely showcase of what Automerge can do. Great talk from Lilith Duncan introducing the project: www.youtube.com/watch?v=CAJ_...

I'm very skeptical that we have a way to measure "good schools" but people in my demographic always talk about it as an objective thing e.g. when house shopping.

Saleh never misses. This video in particular helped me solidify some of my thoughts around why we use paper so much in folk.computer. It will help me present it as a list of important interactions paper affords, instead of people walking away thinking "cool, paper computer."

The good taxpayers of New York have given me a pair of Meta glasses because I am low vision disabled, and I seem to have used them more than a lot of people on here, so let me say a little about my experiences:

Fuel prices should be even higher, but only if that extra money goes to corrective spending. Right now it's going to big oil's shareholders. Potential corrective spending: - mass transit - active transportation - parks
