At £6m & sold for potentially £60m 7 years later there's no doubt Martinelli has been a massive success. There's no shame in the club outgrowing his level. He was a big part of helping the club elevate levels. It was likely he'd go this summer & he was one i was desperate to win the league before

Whether or not you think the Community Shield is a “trophy”, it’s still more meaningful than the Carabao Cup or the FIFA Club World Cup, but that says more about those two Mickey Mouse competitions than it does about the Community Shield. 🚮

We know Arsenal want to generate some money from sales but rather than just sell them now, I’d much rather see Nwaneri & Lewis-Skelly go to Como on loan. Cesc said he wanted a couple of players on loan, and I think we could maximise both their development and value there. Then reassess in a year

As an Arsenal fan, I’m not overly fussed about Bruno. He’s a good player and would be a useful option, but there are plenty of those around. Having to deal with Kia (again) is a pain for all involved, as usual. I thought we were finally done with him after all the Edu/Willian nonsense.

Seems like lots of briefing & counter-briefing as everyone protects their negotiating & PR position Seems to me that: Vini & Real arent close on deal yet Real projecting theyre happy to keep him to avoid weakening negotiating position with buyers Real laying groundwork to blame exit on Vini

🚨BREAKING: Jose Mourinho does not consider Vinicius Jr essential for his new Real Madrid. The club will not force his departure, but neither will it close the door to a “good” offer this summer. The club cannot pay him an €80million signing bonus nor give him 80% of the image rights.

Just talking at school drop off and discovered one of the other parents in my kid’s class use to work for Arsenal under Darren Burgess. Not something I was expecting on a Wednesday morning in Adelaide

Let’s go

🚨 EXCL: Arsenal exploring move to sign Vinicius Junior from Real Madrid. #AFC interest early stage + clubs not yet in talks but idea approved at all levels. Much rests on contract process as no breakthrough yet & #RMFC do not want free exit @theathleticfc.bsky.social www.nytimes.com/athletic/746...

Sending someone off for a dive in the middle of the pitch in a World Cup quarterfinal is wild. Even if technically correct, the punishment vastly outweighs the “crime” (aka something we see every other game).

It was in the interest of football that Belgium cauterised the wound in that fashion. Now Infantino has to go too. Absolutely sucks for American fans and the players, but the sport can’t abide the BS trump and Infantino cooked up

It sucks for the Yanks to go out under these circumstances. Every football fan loves an underdog - a less talented home side on a heroic run. But that was overshadowed by the noise around them. From the arrogance of their pundits to the corruption, any chance of a romantic underdog story was ruined

The talent gap between the middle tier teams and the top tier teams is so great. Hard to compete when you don’t have a single player that gets in the opposition team. Hard work and team spirit can only get teams so far.

THREE extremely unethical situations at the World Cup require more football stakeholders to challenge wrongs. 1. Banishment of the Somali referee 2. Balogun red card political interference 3. Treatment of Iran team Players/managers/officials/administrators. Pressure on FIFA should be unrelenting.

Bugger! I hate seeing an 18yo put in that position. Congratulations to Egypt It was great to see Mabil get out there and bury his penalty. He was such an important player for Adelaide before going to Europe Itlll be interesting to see how the Socceroos develop next. Hopefully beyond Popa’s caution

Here’s how I know Arsenal Bluesky hasn’t quite reached old Arsenal Twitter levels yet. My wife told me about this one Old Arsenal Twitter would have had drone footage by now

Rewatching Batman Begins, Christian Bale is battling his lisp so hard it makes his mouth move in this really distinctive way. Kind of insane that Rachel wouldn’t have clocked Bruce Wayne under the Batman mask about 10 seconds into their first conversation the moment he lands his first “s”.

Had a go at the @arsenalvpodcast.bsky.social Arsenal Director of Football game In my hypothetical, City get relegated, Haaland heads to Real Madrid (pushing Mbappé to the left), Barça respond with Álvarez, and Atlético get Gyökeres My preference was Kroupi over Rashford but the market opportunity🤷🏼‍♂️

“Allegations in that case revealed the casino had customers with links to organised crime, loan sharking, human trafficking and sex slavery” They were just called “regulars” when I worked there. Having young casual hospo workers be the vanguard against gangsters & crims goes as well as you’d expect

I’m in SA where the “ban” originated. It’s less a ban & more an attempt to hold tech giants to the same standards as other media, rather than them getting the usual pass cause they’re “on the computer” 🙄 Elon wants Twitter to be X-rated & YouTube have a kid-friendly version. They’re treated like it

If politicians really want to “save childhood,” they can start by ensuring every child has three meals a day, a safe place to sleep, and safe access to education. Banning social media does nothing to help kids who don’t have basic resources.
