One of the reasons Transportation Alternatives conspiracy theories spread is because there are diminishingly few local news sources in NYC and people have rotted their brains on TikTok and Reels bsky.app/profile/gwyn...

There is simply not enough service on the Lexington Ave. lines from 4-7 p.m. every day. MTA should be running peak-hour Victoria Line frequencies here, and they're just not anywhere close.

Haters gonna hate street improvements We need fast government to nip the hatred in the bud Vote yes on 3

I know the Flatbush Ave. project is technically "on schedule" and involves a lot of moving parts, but DOT is simply creating conditions for complainers to complain by dragging this out so long.

Who the hell would develop this method? I saw officers doing payment enforcement on Munich subway (whole system is proof of payment). Plainclothes, only making a few inquiries per car. Not disruptive but still creates a sanction/disincentive

Stephen Jacob Smith@stephenjacobsmith.com

These MTA fare inspections on buses look like a total clown show. Bus stopped, extremely slow to inspect each fare, arguing with riders rather than just fining them, letting people go back to pay before you check them. I do not have faith in the MTA to really pull off citywide proof-of-payment.

Let's reconsider $18 while we're at it

Thought we might get thru this season without this, but here we go - so weak: "On Thursday, Hochul also told Juliet Papa of 1010WINS that she was 'taking a look at' calling off the planned 2028 toll increase to $12" @nyc.streetsblog.org

Awful to watch what is happening in Toronto, but the resistance to Doug Ford's attempt to endanger people not in cars is inspiring evidence of a growing international movement. We will look back on images like this the way people in the Netherlands look back at #StopDeKindermoord photos.

Tom Flood@tomflood.bsky.social

Toronto is not having it.

this is genuinely the best info screen i’ve ever seen on public transit anywhere. every time i get an r211 train i have to take a few moments to admire how well done it is

IMO: The real lesson here is that a trader’s strategy of landing one or two massive bets is not how government policy works.

South Dakota has the highest state birth rate. I'm sure it's brimming over with transit maintenance needs & ideas for new service. Utah is highest in marriage - Trax & Frontrunner have a short window to crank out proposals!

David Zipper@davidzipper.bsky.social

This is nuts. @murray.senate.gov: “Tying funding for transit projects to marriage rates and how many babies a woman has is the sort of bizarre and dystopian idea you’d expect in a TV show, not actual policy put forth by the U.S. government — yet here we are."

Another reason to move quickly to pour concrete and demap streets. This is silly nonsense.

Great to see this state DOT-directed advocacy. Despite a few good projects here & there in NYC, NYSDOT is largely in a time warp in terms of policy & output (Still waiting on that study of the West Side Highway)

I had the same question. The doors should not show as closed if this happens.

The LIRR Today@thelirrtoday.com

Very tragic and sad news... www.amny.com/news/brookly... Buy I disagree with the article characterizing this as a "freak accident". We spend billions every year to keep conductors on Subway trains to be an extra set of eyes to prevent tragedies exactly like this. What happened??

I can't wait for no one to believe the data that this is good for business and the city economy overall. I still can't believe that Times Square has cars driving through it, especially during the busiest times of the day....

The countdown is on for a traffic-free Oxford Street. Monday 26 October marks a new chapter for the nation’s high street as it becomes pedestrianised.
