I feel like we are so overwhelmed with existential dangers to life on earth that we can't keep up. Nuclear weapons. Climate change. And now AI. 3 seems like more than enough to worry about. But it seems like most people have forgotten the risk of a pandemic worse than Covid 19.

This is madness. If the leader of any other country had threatened to “annihilate" another country (Iran and its people) or to declare that “to the victor belong the spoils” (Venezuela and its oil), he would have been shouted off the stage. Headlines everywhere would condemn him as a pariah. (1/2)

Campaign consultants prosper by convincing politicians that the path to victory is to raise a boatload of money and spend it on ... campaign consultants (and expensive TV ads from which the consultants get a big cut). And raising megabucks means kowtowing to moneyed interests. BS said Angie Nixon.
