Happy to share that I was renewed as an MS MVP, and congrats to all of the other MVPs getting renewed today. Here's to another year of learning, sharing, and growing together. #MVPBuzz
Introducing psign: portable code signing. every file format, every signing method, every platform 👇
No more "let's run this on Windows because of signtool.exe". Say yes to code signing from Linux! 🚀

Did you see PowerToys has a new utility to make it easier to move windows?
You just need to hold ALT or the Windows key and you can drag anywhere on the window

Was in too much shock to post this yesterday. I was demoing how to setup a Dev Drive for ~25% perf improvement, & while cleaning it up at the end of the demo I accidentally deleted my real Dev Drive instead of the dummy one I created for the demo. All local code gone! How's your day going? 😅
Thankfully I always try to commit and push code up before closing my IDE, so I'm fairly certain I didn't lose any work. Just had to spend an hour re-cloning ~75 repos to my machine.
Use Windows but not a Dev Drive? Check it out! Way faster builds and load times: learn.microsoft.com/en-us/window...
I use #Jekyll (static site generator) and #GitHub Pages to host my blog for free. I figured out how to host PR previews with their own public URL for free on GitHub Pages (no 3rd party host needed), so I can preview what the PR site would look like. Give a 💖 if you'd like a blog of how I did this

At least once a week people are trying to make #Gifs with #PowerShell and #ffmpeg

My #PowerShell Runtime Containers for #docker and #podman have been updated to include the newly released 7.6.0, as well as every supported version since 7.4, in noble-distroless and azurelinux-distroless flavors. Check them out!
Had a great week of learning at #MVPSummit. Chatted with old friends and made some new ones. Already looking forward to doing it again next year. Now taking a break in the sunshine (finally got sun on the last day!) before playing with the new shiny stuff later.
⚠️ If you maintain Azure DevOps extensions, be careful with the unpublish/delete function.
Once deleted, you cannot republish extensions anymore.
This change was silently announced here and activated today.

Booo, Air Canada cancelled my connecting flight while I was mid-flight, so now I have an 11 hour layover and will miss the entire #MVPSummit pre-day 😞
Still looking forward so connecting with other MVPs the rest of the week tho

I decided to rename my module. Now it's called "GliderUI":
github.com/mdgrs-mei/Gl...
Cross-platform desktop GUI framework for #PowerShell built using Avalonia.
- Runs on Windows, macOS and Linux
- You can build GUIs by code or XAML
- No more freezing GUIs
Messing around with a C# Source Generator for PowerShell cmdlets. You can use it to create .NET classes based on PowerShell cmdlets and invoke them like classes. github.com/adamdriscoll...
Published a new module called AvaloniaUIShell, (the world's first?) cross-platform desktop GUI framework for PowerShell.
github.com/mdgrs-mei/Av...
It's using the same mechanism as WinUIShell and takes care of all threading and non-blocking UI operations.

I have wrapped my VsDevShell PowerShell module into an agent skill, such that AI agents can automatically enter a Visual Studio developer shell on-demand for tools like "msbuild" or "signtool": skills.sh/awakecoding/...
Your PowerShell is probably full of stale Az modules.
I just fixed that.
You can now uninstall and clean up all Az modules in one go! Plus there’s a new Uninstall-All cmdlet that removes a stack of Microsoft modules safely.
Stop fighting version conflicts 🤩

At work we need to publish a PowerShell module but didn't want to deal with PSGallery tokens and more permissions we need to audit over time. I've tried out GitHub Container/OCI and Nuget feeds as well as Azure Artifacts. github.com/jborean93/Po...
TLDR: Use Azure Artifacts.
If you manage #Kubernetes using kubectl, you should definitely use kubecolor. I wrote a quick blog showing how to get it installed and set up in 30 seconds.

A nice reinforcement that AI tools are an accelerator and the quality of the code they generate depends on the person using them. The human in the loop still very much matters. Competent engineers can use AI tools to move faster without generating slop.
AI coding tools like Claude Code, GitHub Copilot, Cursor, and ChatGPT are changing how we write software... but are they actually improving long-term software quality, or just accelerating short-term output?
We ran a study of 150 software engineer's to find out...

I appreciate that MS #Teams shows how many people have already joined the meeting before I join. It allows me to avoid joining when there's only 1 other person and having to make small talk until others join on days when I'm not feeling chatty.

You can take the same Copilot agentic core that powers GitHub Copilot CLI and embed it in any application, with just a few lines of code.
