I write Spider-Man and Superman. Hello. (NYT Best Selling, Eisner & Inkpot Award winning author. Can't carry a tune.)

I dislike the fact that there are multiple people calling themselves "Superman", "Flash", "Robin", "Superboy", and "Green Lantern". It makes comics REALLY hard to write when multiple versions of these characters are standing next to each other. I know. This is coming from the Spider-Verse guy.🤷

Is this a hard-and-fast rule for me? Nah. I do have some hypocritical exceptions. I've worked on Spider-Man long enough to know Miles Morales should always be Spider-Man as well. I'm cool with Sam being Cap, I'd just like him to be the ONLY Cap while he's Cap.

And Green Lanterns being Green Lanterns make sense because it's usually the Green Lantern of sector blah-blah-blah. But even GL fans have to acknowledge that it's weird that there are so many Green Lanterns who are simultaneously from Earth.

And, yes, this is coming from the guy who turned Flash Thompson into Agent Venom (and later Agent Anti-Venom). I know. Consider this period of my writing-life a "Come to Jesus" moment. (Said the Jewish writer. But you know what I mean.)

So, yes... I'm the guy who changed Jon Kent from Superman to Tomorrow Man... ...and reverted Lana Lang into a normal non-super-powered member of Superman's supporting cast. And this kinda thing is something that I'll probably keep on trying to do as long as editorial will let me.

I'm also NOT a fan of everybody in the supporting cast getting super-powers. You do it too long, and you end up with a scenario like the FLASH TV show where EVERYBODY in the hero's social circle is super-powered and the lead character doesn't have people in their lives who are eye-level characters.

Hi. Before you get mad at me for killing off a beloved comic book character, can you do me a favor? Can you just do a quick web-search to see if I (or another comic book creator) brought that character back later? 👍 Thanks.

OUT TODAY: SUPERMAN UNLIMITED #18 This one's a good done-in-one issue and great jumping on point. All with gorgeous art by Lucas Meyer. Can you believe it? I've been writing Superman for a year and a half now! What a world!😀

Rare moment of pride over here. My Dad and I have very different senses of humor. He's very supportive of my work in superhero comics, but he *really* liked my comics more when I was working on LOONEY TUNES two decades ago. A moment in today's SUPERMAN UNLIMITED #18 got a HUGE laugh out of him. 🙂

Jon Kent & Superman have a great post-Kingdom of Zod conversation/general catch up in Superman Unlimited 18. Plus, what was for me the best moment in comics of the week. I'd like to see more moments like what happens with King from the Royal Flush Gang. They're there if a creator wants them for us.

Today is the FINAL ORDER CUTOFF for SPECTACULAR SPIDER-MAN #6. We could've relaunched w/ a new #1. We didn't want to. You guys say you hate renumbering, here's a chance to vote against it. Please give your Local Comic Shop a call and ask to put SPECTACULAR SPIDER-MAN on your Pull List.

SPECTACULAR SPIDER-MAN is artist Marcus To and I bringing you grounded, street-level Spidey tales with a rich supporting cast... ...and introducing ALL-NEW heroes & villains to Spidey's world... ...all while getting good reviews! Come for the show, and we'll bring you our BEST shot every month!

If you're enjoying SPECTACULAR SPIDER-MAN by Marcus To and me, and want to KEEP READING IT... Please call you Local Comic Shop TODAY (Sunday the 18th) or tomorrow (Monday the 19th) and ask to put SPECTACULAR SPIDER-MAN on your PULL LIST. We're at the Final Order Cut Off date. Timing is critical.

How does THAT work? When it's time for a retailer to place their orders, they will order copies for everyone who has that title on their pull lists... PLUS extra copies for the racks. That's way better than if you DIDN'T tell your retailer and if you just bought a copy off the rack.

You might ask, "What? So this is on ME now? Why is it up to me to keep a book alive?" You are in NO way obligated to do this. This is not on you. I'm just giving you a new weapon in your arsenal. This is how you cast a "SUPER-VOTE" with your wallet. Which gets MORE done than a normal vote.👍

Readers ask, "Does it matter HOW I support a book? Whether I buy digitally, in trade, or in single issues?" The answer is, "Yes. Every way helps." But... If you enjoy a book, and it's NOT a high seller, then putting it on your PULL LIST isn't just voting w/ your wallet, it's casting a SUPER-VOTE!

There's a movie with cameos by: Paul (better known as Pee-wee Herman) Reubens Twiggy (super model of the 60's) and (an uncredited) Steven Spielberg (with 3 lines). Name that movie.

There should've been an episode of the WEST WING where special guest-star, Christopher Walken, shakes Bartlet's hand and freaks out.

True story: At a con in Philly, I was in the green room sitting with David Tennant & Billie Piper. I gave Billie some SILVER SURFER trades... ...and David said they were good, then he tapped on the cover where Dawn was, and said, "You'll like them. There's a lot of Rose in this character, Dawn." 🤯

Can't stress this enough, if you're a fan of #DoctorWho you should give Mike & my SILVER SURFER run a try. It's very true to Surfer canon, but, yeah, it's a love letter to DOCTOR WHO. We openly admit it. 5 trade paperbacks (or one Omnibus), 29 issues long and has a clear beginning, middle, & end.

Honestly, one of my favourite Doctor Who stories of the 2010s has to be the Dan Slott and Mike Allred run on the Silver Surfer. It's a run of pure love and heart

From the #NYCC #SpiderMan Panel... Starting in January 2027, the start of a 3-part EPIC in SPECTACULAR SPIDER-MAN #8... ...SPIDER-MAN vs. THE RED SKULL! This will be LEGENDARY! This is Spider-Man taking on *the* Red Skull who ordered the hit on Richard and Mary Parker, Peter Parker's Parents!

From the #NYCC Spidey Panel... ...sneak peek at Marcus To's art for SPECTACULAR SPIDER-MAN #6, featuring the return of the Big Time Stealth Suit, and the introduction of an all-new Spidey villain: The Scavenger!

Kinda bummed. Was going to make a surprise appearance at the NYCC Spider-Man Panel... right now. But an injury has kept me at home. 🙃 Ah... well. Things happen. Sorry.

We're now a nation that has present day firing squads AND we live stream them. That's barbaric and it doesn't speak well of us as a country. It doesn't matter if someone was guilty of a heinous crime. This isn't about them. It's about us. And our character. And wether we are an evolved people.

Comic Book Canon: What's on the page trumps what's in a handbook. For example: If what was in the Marvel Handbooks were sacrosanct, half of the Wolverine stories from the 90's and beyond wouldn't work if they treated the 80's Marvel Handbooks as gospel.

Quick rule of thumb: Even if you tag me, I can't repost any positive review or post you make about my work if your post *also* slams another comic book creator or their work. Compliments aren't seesaws. You can raise someone up WITHOUT pushing someone else down. :)

I know what my intentions were for Marcos & my story in ASM #1000... And I've now read reviews and reactions where it landed that way with readers, but... I'm also seeing a lot of "Death of the Author" reactions, where readers & reviewers are having wildly different interpretations about it... 1/2

Out Today: AMAZING SPIDER-MAN #1000 SUPERMAN: KINGDOM OF ZOD SPECIAL #1 If you're in Baltimore, I'll be signing from 6pm-8pm at Third Eye Comics! (And even though it's a Spidey #1000 signing, it's okay to bring some Superman comic too.) ;-)

It's one of the most unbelievable honors of my life that I have stories in AMAZING SPIDER-MAN #600, #700, #800, #900, and, as of today, #1000. Today's short story, "I Can Never Rest", that I worked on with legendary artist, Marcos Martin, is one of my favorite stories I've ever written for Spidey.

If they *really* wanted to freak people out, they should've had Jonathan Frakes say the "Space: The Final Frontier..." part of the opening credits to THE BEST OF BOTH WORLDS Part 2.

Enjoying the new SPECTACULAR SPIDER-MAN? If so, please put it on your PULL LIST.🤟 (Don't have a pull list? When you're at your local comic shop tomorrow, please ask if you can start a pull list and *then* add SPECTACULAR SPIDER-MAN.)🤔 Here's what's coming up!😮 (Also, NEW issue tomorrow!)😃

Please spread this around to your family and friends who may not be doom scrollers, unaware of the horrible stakes if the midterms don’t deliver a Democratic wave to stop this Project 2025 shitstorm.

Up bright & early, writing comic books! It's the best job and a total dream come true. Going over Superman lettering this morning. My 250th Spider-Man comic comes out Wednesday. Signing copies of ASM #1000 in 9 days. And none of this would be possible without you guys supporting my work. THANK YOU!
