I might have broken the Cube Designer’s Curse and drafted a nice one tonight. Lagomos / Demon of Desecration was a sick curve, Cyclone Summoner did work, Circle of Power was great on turns where i could double spell. Played a cool RG midrange & an amazing Queza deck on my way to the finals

Ended up making it to the semis with, you guessed it, another 2-1 Won in 3 against two control decks, UW and UB/esper, but couldn’t get there fast enough vs Dom on Reanimator in the finals. Very fun games overall!

Cube was another “circa 2017” vintage cube & it was hard to remember what cards were better at that time vs which ones weren’t great in my deck I ended up white aggro early, p2p1 lotus and specced into green later. Couldn’t not draft Grafted Wargear after @shoebox.gg

Won match 1 2-0 vs GW go-tall. Never saw the Armadillo Cloak thankfully Won match 2 2-1 vs a 4c mostly-grixis? deck. Jetting Glasskite was real hard to deal with game 1 Lost in the finals to Kyle of the Control Cube fame on UR tempo in some very good games, 2-1 overall which kept me live for top16

I was also psyched to wheel the Abiding Grace after taking Spore Frog p1 & i successfully did the combo in match 2. Saw some other combos floating around that looked like fun (nomads en-kor & cephalid illusionist in the same pack; wonder who had Lab Man) Great vibes, would draft again

Sunday I played Shawn (the eventual tournament winner)’s “Frozen in Time Pauper Cube” which IIRC cuts off around 2017 Fine with me because I played a lot of pauper cube around then! First few picks were Llanowar Elves and Blastoderm & i ended up in a removal-light but tempo-y sultai deck w Tortex

P1p1 massacre & got an early Gary but then ended up in a Mardu control shell w tons of boardwipes and big landcyclers to close the game Lost match 1 to Jack (who had like an undefeated record this event) on GW, weirdly my best matchup. Kept slow hands & didn’t draw gas Won the next 2 v UR + Storm

Thursday I drafted Eric the TO’s “Parallel Eighth Edition” cube at Dragon Pizza in Somerville and went 2-1 I loved this cube & would be happy to draft it again; it’s got me thinking about building something similar Old-school cubes that aren’t strict about adding newer cards always appeal to me

Didn’t get a deck pic from the wednesday draft @ Capitol Theatre in Arlington but I played the judge Reid’s “Good Fair Magic” cube which was a legacy cube w lots of fixing and no free interaction I ended up in esper control w/ occasional green splash for Deed, went 1-1-1
