Kidney stones suck, I've gotta say that when you *know* it's a kidney stone and not some weird intense pain of unknown origin, it's way easier to handle. I worked the problem this weekend because I knew exactly what was going on. Ibuprofen, chanca piedra, and a *lot* of fluids did the trick.

“What was your biggest impact on the internet?” I once wrote a Zelda remix so beloved and so popular that people misremembered it as an actual OST track. Some guys did a club mix of my remix and didn’t credit me, and they didn’t believe me until I showed them a video of the track in FLStudio.

"What was your biggest impact on the internet?" gotta be my goofy-ass elden ring comic from way before the dlc was announced, of how the malenia encounter Should have gone according to me ☝🏻

I’m having a hard time taking anything coming out about Mass Effect Universe seriously. The article about what went wrong with Anthem is constantly at the back of my mind, so every cool “MEU was going to do this crazy thing” has the ring of an 11th hour jet-hover implementation to impress an exec.

I would prefer Bioware to still exist. I would prefer they be able to put out MEU. I would prefer to be disappointed by the unfulfilled promises but still enjoy it for what it is.

19h

I prefer all of that to any of the pie-in-the-sky we’re hearing about now.

It *sucks* what happened to Bioware but anyone revealing anything now can claim anything without having to substantiate it in any meaningful way.

Between piracy and streaming services, we have an absolutely insane variety of music available to us today. It has been forever since “the radio” defined what music was at any given time.

Social media loves talking about how everything is getting worse. But what’s something that you’ve seen get _better_ in your lifetime?

Obviously not to mention direct artist sales through the likes of Bandcamp.

Lot of words these days get used so much that they lose all nuance but one that really irks me is describing *every* piece of good music as a "banger."

Did you know that Alan Menken won a Daytime Emmy for a song he wrote for the Tangled TV series, thus fulfilling his EGOT? “Waiting in the Wings” is sung by Eden Espinosa, whose performance is incredible. This song does *not* simply stay in the space you expect from a Disney channel cartoon.

VGMix 3.0 has been released with an all new torrent and over 2000 new arrangements. Huge thanks to everyone who contributed including IRC user thorin who provided us with, what is probably, the vast more majority of songs that were hosted on VGMix 2.

thasauce.netVGMix Archive 3.0 has been released! Over 2000 arrangements added - VGM NewsVGMix Archive adds 2000 more songs including 1200 songs that were missing from VGMix 2. Bringing the total archive to over 5000 songs from across VGMix 1, 2, and X.

The Mass Effect trilogy is quite honestly one of the finest set of games I have ever played in my life. Thank you, Bioware.

Today is a weird day for web devs. If you're reporting an issue on a site to someone, it's helpful to provide useful information. A screenshot of your browser making a sad face doesn't fall under "useful information."

I will die on the hill—the hill we took back from the colonizer shits—that Stormblood is great.

Betcha I can make your eye twitch with a simple revision to a well-worn classic.

Update: Game of the Decade. I will be purchasing 7 copies immediately.

You know how a lot of people figured out a ton of shit about themselves during the pandemic? Like, people came out, they completely rearranged and recalibrated their entire existences based on what that level of isolation brought them. Me? I realized that I like it when women wear dark nail polish.

It’s weird how the Dexter revival series isn’t called Dextest.

Thinking about starting a FFXIV retrospective podcast called “Please Look Backward to It.”

As bummed as I am that Anshika did not with India's Best Dancer (like holy shit how insane was that last dance she did with Rupesh?!) Ritesh definitely earned that win.

It's weird how this guy cosplays as a robot master when performing when it's becoming apparent that dressing like a housewife trying to drain spaghetti from a pot in a 90s kitchen gadget commercial would be way more accurate.

yes, absolutely. i submitted this ™ in a batch and i didn't specify that it would be assigned to my LLC, it appears to have landed that way. If it gets approved then i'm going to see what options i have for moving it

Every time I was and dry a load of towels, the lint trap is completely full. If I wash and dry them enough times, will there eventually be nothing left?

I'm filled with immeasurable joy at the news that Bungie is working to restore vaulted campaigns, raids, and destinations to Destiny 2. It can never be stated enough that these things never should have left the game but I'm done complaining about that.

Monument of Triumph was a perfect send-off to the game. It's as good as we could have gotten, given the circumstances. But now? Being able to run around Titan and Io again? Fighting in the Red War? Getting revenge for Cayde? Doing that dumbass Lost Sector in the Eliksni nightclub? Unbelievable.

just watched that Bungie update video and I'm actually sobbing rn lol... I can't believe they're really unvaulting all pre-Beyond Light content... I can't believe they confirmed more Destiny to come in the future... LOVE FUCKING WINS 💜

I remember.

Bittersweet week on India’s Best Dancer. Prince, who’d experienced an incredible comeback story after his choreographer change, left the show due to an illness. Roshan, who always felt like an underdog, was finally given a chance to battle and absolutely killed it, but still went home.

Sad to see these boys go, Prince really came into his own and Roshan had so much untapped potential.

Still, my 2 favorites, Anshika and Geetanjali, made it to top 5. Would love to see one of them take home the trophy.

Fascinating to see how people assessing/reacting to the current Materia/Gamechops drama entirely through the lens of Undertale and Deltarune fandom. In that space, Materia is the bad guy. I think folks outside of that space are looking at things differently.

14 Sept

Like a lot of community leaders, I got that drive link in my inbox a few weeks ago. At OCR we don't really have *any* affiliation with GC; I think the last time we even thought about the guy was when we asked him to prove a submission was not an OST rip with drums on top.

That said: using GenAI in your workflow to produce audio targeted at children so you can earn streaming revenue is deeply fucked. To loudly and boldly brag about how you've gotten your magic money button to work while framing it as experiencing a creative renaissance is deeply fucked.

14 Sept

In a sense I'm glad I never really got into the GC catalog because now I don't have to Death-of-Author anything I could have potentially liked for a really long time. There's plenty of wonderful, human-made music out there to enjoy, still.

So I don't really know how relevant it is for us to weigh in. We don't run events so we don't have to worry about booking the guy. We don't collab with GC on releases/albums. We have zero profit-motive, which is the exact opposite of GC as a label.

11 Sept

Today is 9/11. I know that it’s fun for Gen Z and Gen Alpha to crack jokes about steel beams and “another x has hit the y” but I’m asking all of you to just, for today, shut the fuck up.

I love how the word "Ravenous" seems to have activated something in everyone's brain. Absolutely insane fanart coming out right now.

This is such a specific gripe but I honestly never want to see a slick trailer for a beautiful, sprite-art Sonic fangame where the demo comes out and it's like just one zone so far ever again. The history of Sonic fangames is the history of promises unfulfilled.

Ocarina of Time remake looks fucking insane, I do not understand anyone nitpicking. Like it legitimately looks gorgeous and Link's design is outstanding.
