Holy crap! Today's the day! Please Allow 5-7 Days for Justice's author, @amfosterwrites.bsky.social, has clearly spent a few too many years as a spreadsheet jockey. Our hero's brush with galactic bounty hunting is futuristic and funny, but the bureaucracy he navigates is uncomfortably contemporary.

Tangential to the trending topic du jour, I have never understood restaurants that use "factory" in their name. "The spirit we want to evoke at our restaurant is one of industrial, automated, processed food produced at quantity with as little human artistry as possible."

Am I supposed to cower in fear of being labeled an elitist? Is that the idea? Oh no, the worst people on earth might call me an elitist! *tremble* News Flash: If supporting trans folks is elitist, sign me the fuck up.

I've been called an elitist before, and probably deserved it in that context, but gotta say, didn't have "supports trans folks" on my elitism bingo card. But hey, if that's the context, call me whatever you like. Doesn't make you any less of a soulless fuckstick.

The only good that will come of Stanford Prison Experiment, the reality show, is that it has reminded me to go back and listen to Stanford Prison Experiment, the '90s band.

I don't care about Blade (I'll buy it just to support them), but the only non-indie studio closure that would gut me more than Arkane would be Remedy.

Put Blade in the bag and nobody gets hurt! https://kotaku.com/arkane-devs-say-blade-is-nearly-finished-but-if-it-cant-find-a-buyer-soon-the-studio-will-close-2000749096

Counterpoint: I *vastly preferred* it when Airbnb was a houseguest experience rather than a pseudo-hotel, and doing a little cleanup and leaving a little gift that I brought from home and god forbid even meeting my hosts in person was part of it.

Woke up to Please Allow 5-7 Days for Justice breaking top 100 in Humorous Sci-Fi audiobooks! @darmato.bsky.social blew the performance out of the water, making the book itself instantly better! #booksky #audiobooks

This story was an awful lot of fun to record. I hope it's as much fun to hear, and as it's my first time working on an audiobook, I sure would welcome any thoughts y'all have — criticism especially! — if you end up giving it a listen.

In any case, if you're so inclined, give it a shot. It's a fun story, and though I realize the written word is A.M.'s chosen medium, the characters are so colorful and the dialogue is so snappy that I suspect it's just a matter of time before somebody options this thing :-D

Holy crap. Has any film ever hit numbers like this? Much less a *documentary*?? (That's no small-sample fluke. Look at the number of reviews/ratings.)

*THE GODFATHER* is 97/98. Casablanca is 99/95. Seven Samurai is 100/97. There are other 100% critic's ratings films, but I'm trying to find one that was so universally well-received by both critics and audience and... man.

12 Angry Men, 100/97 Toy Story, 100/92 Citizen Kane, 99/98 Raiders of the Lost Ark, 94/96 ... I can't find anything that's hit 99% on both. Or even a 100/98 that averages out to 99.

Can confirm! I won’t speak for all VAs, but speaking for myself, I just love the work. I want to do cool stuff. So long as it’s cleared with the union and you aren’t a big dumb jerk, I’m probably going to want to work on your project!

Souha Al-Samkari@sousourocket.bsky.social

I often see people express things like "HOW DID THEY GET SO AND SO VA" when it comes to VO announcements and friends, I'm happy to tell you that it's a much simpler process than you think. If you're working union very often it's just a matter of asking. Worst thing that can happen is a no thanks!

This is the one thing that might get me to play GTA.

Oh, wow, just found this mnemonic I made years ago while sifting through some old files. Ever have a hard time remembering which is tonkAtsu (fried pork chop) and which is tonkOtsu (pork ramen broth)? Not anymore.

Me: These gowns feel symbolic and pointless. Doctor: They’re for modesty. Me: Well, I wouldn’t want to be immodest while I’m getting my prostate exam.

Due to a preorder snafu, the audiobook for Please Allow 5-7 Days for Justice was briefly available, and we have our first review! Michael loved it! (Thanks, Michael, whoever you are!) Official release in just a couple of weeks, on 10/19…

Preorders are open! This is @amfosterwrites.bsky.social’s first novel and my first audiobook narration, so we are both on pins and needles. With apologies for the Hollywood “X meets X” cliche, I like to think of it as Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy meets Office Space. This was fun to record.

Pet Peeve: People making a restaurant’s name possessive when it isn’t. (e.g. Andreoli —> Andreoli’s, Bacanora —> Bacanora’s, Mister Pio —> Mister Pio’s, etc.)

Her: I met two quail! Out on the porch! Me: What are their names? Her: I didn’t get their names. Me: Well, then you didn’t *meet* them, did you?
