a very special fuck you to all places that don't allow you to paste into password fields, making it extremely time-consuming to create new accounts or update passwords if you use a password manager

There are thousands of places out there that see our galaxy as one of the dots in their sky, and have no idea we’re here

was thinking about something and i had a thought that felt profound enough to be worth sharing: saying goodbye is the hardest part about loving someone, no matter what circumstances it occurs in

I can’t get over how human big walk as a game is. There’s something really special about an experience like that that’s been lovingly hand-crafted by real people with the goal of bringing people together, especially in today’s world

the new internet of shit is the internet of... whatever the fuck this is

-IMPORTANT- Gumroad has recently updated their website with the intention of phasing out the ability to manually edit your storefront and allowing you to only edit your storefront via AI agents. I will be dropping gumroad support entirely in the near future. More to come as I sort things out.

you know, you'd think that mini-XLR connectors would just be compatible across the board with mini-XLR sockets, but apparently my partner's headphones only like very specific cables with a slightly wider barrel. all the cheap cables we've gotten from Amazon have caused audio dropouts

(and mind you, I tried them in my headphones which also use mini-XLR, and had absolutely zero issues. maybe it's a beyerdynamic vs. AKG thing? idk)

the most depressing part about exiting VR is the realization that there are thousands of good people interested in building a better world and exactly zero people interested in taking them up on it. instead of making cool art and supporting eachother, we live in a capitalist dystopia

it amuses me that "straight drive" is apparently a somewhat local term for "manual transmission" here, I mentioned it to my nesting partners who are from the midwest and the deserts and they were like "?????"

strongly considering ditching plex for jellyfin if they're going to start going to start having github-grade uptime on the centralized stuff that's required for you to access your own media

forever asking why so many thunderbolt docks choose to have all the ports on the *front* of the dock. like why wouldn't you put permanently connected stuff like monitors or storage on the back, and stuff like headphones and USB connectors for devices you don't use all the time on the front?

it's horrible for aesthetics, and it's horrible for the cables because now I have to bend them 180 degrees to route them to all of the permanent fixtures on my desk

if you live in a high density area and use 40MHz channel width on your 2.4GHz wifi, there's a special place in hell for you (also your wifi is probably worse because of it)

do you ever think about how post-con depression seems to indicate a deeper pattern of people being generally unhappy with their living situation and the amount of community connection they experience?

happy pride to all my queer friends especially the neurodivergent ones and the ones who say they're neurotypical and all their friends are mysteriously neurodivergent

do you ever notice how states will cut things like free admission to state museums or teacher salaries and yet taxes always stay the same or go up? just wondering

imagine if we had doordash as a government subsidized service where people are paid living wages with benefits and the people ordering can just pay the cost of the food.

bonus: use the data to find prime locations for free community kitchens and determine where infrastructure upgrades for walkability are needed so people can get to them

what if you just turn the polycule into an LLC and buy an apartment building on a business mortgage. seems like a lot more bang for your buck then trying to fit everyone in a house

it’s amazing to me how many folks seem to not understand that we can fund social services just by taxing wealth. we don’t need to raise taxes on working folk to have a better future

Happy 30th anniversary to the Internet Archive (launched on May 10, 1996). A staggering piece of history and technology that must be preserved.

film you've watched more than six times with a gif. hard mode: no star wars, star trek, lotr, dc, marvel, disney, pixar, spielberg, cameron, wachowskis, or ghibli.

every language should have a word that just means “yes I am listening to you and I don’t have anything to add at this time” without having a dismissive connotation for those times when people talk a bunch and then look at you expectantly

a solid chunk of SRE is just taking apart various libraries and applications to figure out why they break for your particular insane edge case of an environment

if anybody ever asks you "why are we wasting money on space missions?", please remind them that many of the great technological advances of the 20th century came from the work that humans as a species did on space travel

One of the coolest things about Artemis 2 is listening to the conversations between the crew and mission control and hearing how they talk about what they're seeing and doing. The way they acknowledge the significance of what they're doing and describe their feelings about it is really touching

it would be so funny if people filed counter-claims on the claude code DMCA takedowns to invalidate the copyright because of AI usage
