Played two shows today, with two bands, each being made up of some of the people I most love to play with Both sets were loads of fun So that felt good Also I'm tired and a bit sore, haven't finished loading everything downstairs yet, ha

Dónal Lunny was a totemic figurehead at the prow of Irish Music and culture, always navigating the tradition forward to new and uncharted territories. A gentle genius never to be forgotten. Sincere condolences to all his family and friends. Ar dheis Dé go raibh a anam

Hey, any Maryland people in my mentions who have not yet signed up for community solar, hmu if you want a referral. You'll pay 90% of your current BGE rates, so 10% off, plus you and I both will get a $50 credit. I don't work for them, just doing it for the vouchers (and bc more solar is good)

Just busted out the turntable for the first time in an embarrassingly long period of indeterminate length, and am playing this record by Andy Stack & Jay Hammond that I got from them when Mike and I played with them a few years back. It's good! I figured the kids wouldn't mind

When Grammy-winning musician Rhiannon Giddens begins playing “Old Corn Liquor,” a traditional Black American folk tune, acclaimed Chinese pipa virtuoso Wu Man recognizes similarities to Chinese pentatonic music and spontaneously joins in. The joy on their faces says it all.

Question for audio people: let's say you had a splitter cable that was a 1/4" TS split into two 1/4" TSFs. Would the 1/4" instrument cables plugged into the TSF ends of the splitter carry less signal than was originally present? If so, is each side cut by 50% or some other %?

We need to get back to believing that people are essentially good and can do amazing things. I don't care if that makes me sound like a deluded hippie or whatever, it's what needs to happen. The endless security theater and paranoia of the 21st century is also hurting all of us. It fucking sucks

I was at a wedding all day and am just getting around to telling ppl here that I was in a band that opened for Laid Back Country Picker last night. Here they are at soundcheck. I didn't know anything about them. Wild stuff, like country fried AC/DC...I only caught the first song. Was cool though

Also the people whose spot it is (a long time Baltimore pie maker/musician and his son) have chickens. I took a quick video of them so I could show the kids when I got home. They were asleep, so I had to wait until today to show them

Astrophotographer Adam (AJ) Smadi caught this image a few hours ago from Washington state. A thin crescent Moon, sunlight illuminating the rugged lunar surface. And 2,400 times farther away—and on the other side of the Sun—mighty Jupiter, and its moons Io (left) and Ganymede (right).

So today for Bandcamp Friday, I would actually like to promote some stuff of mine that isn't on Bandcamp. If you subscribe to my site with a paid subscription ($3/mo or more), you can download all the releases I have up, (with the exception of Guitar Tapes vol I, on Sun Cru records). 🧵

3/ Q: Does this mean I can pay $3 for the first month, download all your stuff, then cancel? A: Yes, but so far no one has done so, because it's kind of dicky and fortunately ppl who like my stuff tend not to be that way So pls subscribe if you like my stuff and want to support! Thank you & HLDW!

Please blow up the public comment (included below): BREAKING NEWS (7/15) — The administration wants to destroy Chaco Canyon without consulting Tribal Nations. It’s an irreplaceable historic & cultural site with 4,700 archeological sites that could be lost to the bulldozers of oil & gas development
