Horror fiends, please check out this excellent feminist cannibal-slasher comic. The complete first arc is now up on Kickstarter and I hope you'll check it out. IT has been my immense pleasure to edit writers @davidbowles.us and Drew Edwards on this: www.kickstarter.com/projects/ipi...

We are not going to get out of the fascism problem by accepting just enough fascism to turn the heads of the fascism-curious.

Fantastic new report that delves into the way that local police are collaborating with ICE, even in places where it’s not authorized under state law. Worth your read!

Justice Jackson: This "violates well-established precedents concerning this Court's equitable discretion and needlessly injects chaos and uncertainty into the upcoming midterm elections. It also lets another shoe drop in the Kafkaesque nightmare that our precedents have been steadily creating."

The question to ask of capitalism is simple: does the right of business to exploit consumers and workers trump the right of consumers and workers to be protected from exploitation? And overwhelmingly, the AI industry's answer is YES - hence hatred of AI becoming an anticapitalist inflection point.

Since @gilbertgalindo.bsky.social has revealed the news over on IG, I will announce it here! The opera is THE LAND REMEMBERS, centered on a modern Mexican American family trying to decide whether to sell their ranch. We visit their ancestors at key moments of joy & loss across 5 centuries.

This election season, a new candidate has tossed her ha— her MASK into the ring. Her platform is pretty straightforward. T-shirts, stickers and buttons forthcoming through our Kickstarter (and beyond).

I started writing a joke about the human incarnation of Quetzalcoatl, but then I took a good look in the mirror and abandoned it ...

I started writing a joke about Orpheus but, looking back, it wasn’t such a good idea

“A new dawn will break over the darkened world, and our mistakes will once again be forgotten.” Nolan's take on the ODYSSEY is ... so much better than I could have ever anticipated. Definitely had me riveted for 3 hours.

If you go in understanding that Nolan is using the ODYSSEY to say something about US right NOW (rather than crafting a faithful adaptation of the epic), you will be swept away and moved by the pathos on the screen. Highly recommended.

I love the graphic they made: "At its core, THE MATRON is a feminist story. It's about no longer letting society force you into a life you don't want."

Or, as I say more bluntly elsewhere in the interview, "What happens when a woman is backed into a corner and has no other option than to kill a few motherfuckers?" 🤪🪓

I'm writing a gay romance about two Basque shepherds from competing sheepherding families in 19th-century New Mexico. It's called Bleated Rivalry.

I'm writing a gay romance about two computer repair technicians specialized in recovering accidentally erased files. It's called Undeleted Rivalry.

Three things: 1. ICE shouldn’t be out here killing people. 2. We’re still waiting for these cowards to tackle gangs instead grandmas, nuns, folks on their way to work, and people on the streets. 3. (Art by Jesse Duquette.)

Mictecacihuatl, Santísima Muerte, Mother Death—we really appreciate your efforts here, but you keep missing the main target ... Let us know if you need help sharpening your scythe or whatever!

I'm a professor of literature. All books, across all centuries of writing, have at LEAST one typo. There's literally thousands of scholarly books, ranging from critical editions to variorum editions (text comparisons), that take a look at errors / variants in books and their different printings.

Scott Pack@meandmybigmouth.bsky.social

I've genuinely not read a book published this century that didn't have at least one typo.

My personal ranking of the EVIL DEAD franchise, from best to "least good" (as I agree that there isn't a single bad entry in the franchise): EVIL DEAD 2 EVIL DEAD RISE EVIL DEAD (2013) EVIL DEAD BURN ASH VS EVIL DEAD ARMY OF DARKNESS THE EVIL DEAD (1981)
