I know there's a lot going on but I feel it should probably be more of an above-the-fold story that members of Congress released a thoroughly documented report directly accusing the president of the United States of being a serial rapist.

i am inviting anyone from a legacy media organization to explain to me why the house judiciary dems report on trump’s epstein’s ties and multiple allegations of rape isn’t worthy of extensively reporting on. i’m serious. i want to understand.

Virga doesn't really chew shoes, which I am grateful for, but he does love grabbing shoes and removing the insole. He doesn't chew those either. He just thinks it's fun to take out the insoles.

This whole attack line has reminded me that for years there was no bottom to the GOP and as long as you doubled down, you’d get your presidency and your SCOTUS seat. Vivek is just following the established model.

Eric Michael Garcia@ericmgarcia.bsky.social

Amy Acton's brother slams Vivek Ramaswamy featuring her estranged mother in a campaign ad. "This desperate, disgusting attack reveals exactly who Vivek Ramaswamy is at his core – a pathetic excuse for a man who is willing to hurt anyone as long as it gets him what he wants."

And I don’t know if the GOP has finally discovered a bottom or if they’re like “sorry disgusting brown man, you have to have standards even if we don’t.” But either way.

Voter ID laws don't just block eligible voters — they also cost taxpayers millions. 💸 Voter ID is on the ballot in six states this November. If passed, states will spend millions on unnecessary new rules instead of things communities actually need. Learn more: voteriders.org/article/cost...

JD Vance: "Gas prices are too high ... they skyrocket every time some tinpot dictator decides to throw a tantrum"

First of all: thank you. This is necessary and important and good. Second: who tf is not signing on to this because I would like to have a little conversation.

The persecution of @repilhan.bsky.social just days before an election is vile and politically-motivated. I'm leading 175 House Democrats in denouncing this. When we retake power, we have to seriously look at how we can stop these abuses of power — starting with the power of the purse.

This is such bullshit. If the issue actually was that other kids can't get the ball, you can work with the literal three year old on passing, a very useful skill or soccer players. If you can't do that, what are you doing teaching soccer. But I'm betting they can do that. They just didn't.

Phil Lewis@phillewis.bsky.social

I spoke to the mom of the 3-year-old soccer star who was left "thinking he did something wrong" after a league official called police "due to a disturbance between parents" The youth sports league said they launched a review and reached out to the family

There is so obviously a million ways to use a star soccer player in your league to help all the kids improve their game. If you can't find one maybe it's because there's a giant racism bag over your head that's turning your brain into oatmeal.

Every time I check news after doing work, there's another rape story. Absolutely horrific. My heart is with everyone who has had to be brave about their private trauma in public, and for everyone who has to sit with their own memories stirring every time this happens.

Everyone who is saying "Dems in red states have to throw trans people under the bus to win" -- no. They don't. When they do that, we just start with no winning options on the table. It gives in to the fascist premise that we get to decide some groups don't get rights. THIS is what I want to see.

BeshearStan@beshearstan.bsky.social

Kansas Dem Sen. nominee Adam Hamilton on trans rights: “I don’t think we should take a small group of people and bully them, pick on them, and hurt them. I understand one thing really clearly when it comes to transgender people, and that is Jesus told me I was to love my neighbor as I love myself”

I want a blue wave that excludes every one of these craven, bigoted motherfuckers.

Erin Reed@erininthemorning.com

Josh Turek of Iowa, Democrat, comes out with one of the worst anti-trans ads yet. Not only is it an anti-sports ad, it proposes a ban on federal funding for gender affirming care. That would hit all medicaid and medicare patients, and any ACA federally-subsidized plans as well. Horrific.

we have to think so much less about finding the right candidates and so much more about building political power that makes individual candidates simple stewards of the will of the bases they are accountable to

Anyway “this mother put a lot into her kids and they turned out to be geniuses that took the world by storm” could not be more tailored to my mom’s personal taste in memoir.

She hasn’t listened to it yet because she doesn’t have a streaming music service and it’s easier for her to listen to something playing from her phone because it will go directly into her hearing aids, but I’m sending her gift music so she can.

Mom: I’m really enjoying this book. She is such an intelligent mother! Are her kids popular? Me: extremely so. Do you want to hear some of her music?

Anyway I am guessing that MOST people found the book through the music and not the other way around, but there is that tiny trickle the other way.

Our MAHA guy can’t tell people not to eat beef because his weird sauerkraut and beef diet wouldn’t survive. That’s why he’s giving this shitty advice.

It is honestly so much that I’m considering getting a new phone number, except that probably used to belong to someone who gave it up because of text spam.

NEW: We asked readers if they've been drowning in political texts, calls, mailers and TV ads, and to share pics of what they're getting. Hooo boy, did we get responses! Some fumed its been "harassment." Some won't donate to Dem campaigns ever again. www.huffpost.com/entry/voters...

At this point I should just transition to Signal for everyone who possibly otherwise texts me and just treat text as the spam and sometimes 2-factor identification app.

Both my (very religious) parents voted against the Washington anti-trans initiative. I cannot explain what this means to me, but it was genuinely moving going with them to drop off their ballots.

Social media loves talking about how everything is getting worse. But what’s something that you’ve seen get _better_ in your lifetime?

They have listened and learned. My dad has moved further than my mom, but my mom has become so much better. Not everyone can be reached, but some people can.
