Curious if JD Vance has any awareness of the degree to which he is viewed as a failure on these international missions. (Germany / AfD election, Hungarian election, Iran negotiations). I'm sure that his information / ego bubble is quite powerful, but still...

A saying we use a lot in our family: If you go out in the world and meet one asshole, then THEY'RE the asshole. If you go out in the world and everyone you meet is an asshole, then YOU'RE the asshole.

Fascinated that I saw JB Pritzker assessed as being "too old" to be the Democratic presidential nominee in 2028. He'll be 63 years old then. Tells you how some people are feeling about old men at this point in time.

This local Wolfdog joined an Olympic ski event and triggered the finish-line camera. This is Nazgul. He snuck into a cross-country skiing sprint this morning and raced the homestretch with some competitors before being escorted home. 14/10 someone get him a medal

Anyone claiming that RFK Jr follows the scientific method should prove that they understand what the scientific method is. Given their hypothesis about RFK Jr, gather and evaluate evidence, and them evaluate their hypothesis against the evidence.

Van Hollen on Fox News Sunday: "I'm not vouching for the man. I'm vouching for the man's rights. His constitutional rights to due process."

Liz Cheney a republican had to come up with our Project 2029 but it’s so good I can get behind it! Cause fighting this fascist president has aged me considerably!

One thing that would really help us out here as if individuals showing contempt for the judicial process were barred from utilizing the judicial process. Trump wants to ignore the courts? Fine. He can no longer sue anyone in any court for any purpose. Don’t like it? Obey the goddamn court.

I keep waiting for more and more people to realize that the emperor has no clothes. I know it's a propaganda-insulated cult, and admitting you were wrong is incredibly difficult, but... it's got to sink in sometime? Doesn't it?

Love that all of these tariffs strongly incentivize smuggling (aka "importing things without following the rules"), and that we're doing all of these tariffs because... of too much fentanyl smuggling? At least from Canada and Mexico?

Florida is #1! Just learned that 1 in 6 Floridians are enrolled in Affordable Care Act marketplaces. And Texas is #2 at about 10% of the population. California is #3, followed by a bunch more "red states" - Georgia, both Carolinas, and Tennessee. (Absolute enrollment numbers, not % of population)

One tiny silver lining of the Muskrats at DOGE being 19-year-olds is that you know at least one of them is going to write a fantastic tell-all book once their brain fully matures in their late twenties and they start to experience things like empathy and regret

I'm no fan of the Ivy League universities, but they have ridiculously deep pockets, and probably know one or two decent lawyers since they encompass many of the top law schools. Hard to see them losing a legal fight about DEI and federal funding. (Which isn't to say that it's a stupid fight.)

Finally reading all The Expanse novels and just starting the final entry "Leviathan Falls" - the obvious bookend to the first book "Leviathan Wakes". It just occurred to me that the leviathan I'd been thinking had awoken in the first book may not be the right leviathan.

About Canada becoming the 51st state: Republicans would likely lose all national power. By population size and political leanings, Canada is another California - 40M people, leaning to the left. So add ~50 Reps to the House, and those same ~50 votes to the Electoral College, plus two new Senators.

If you really must argue, first imagine someone you don't like making the exact same gesture. AOC. Joe Biden. Taylor Swift. Colin Kaepernick. Ru Paul. And then still don't bother trying to argue.
