These racist, festering lesions don’t get to dictate what it means to be an American.

Had re-activated Facebook to help hire babysitters and do marketplace stuff but even that feels gross now. What a nightmare.

If you haven't been following the new Meta terms discussion, according to their new terms, anything you post and anything on any site you link to, even if it isn't your site, they will be claiming the right to use to train their "AI" as of October 30th.

Maybe the most unified America has ever been about anything. Beat the Dodgers, help save the 2027 season with an all-small-market World Series. Make some nice, long-suffering fans happy.

The term everyone is dancing around is "secret police", a hallmark of totalitarian regimes.

Things got more insane just about as soon as I posted this last night. DHS is now arguing that we cannot even put the names of ICE officers in our lawsuit against those officers. Their position is that, if a defendant works for DHS, they cannot be named in a lawsuit. Never seen anything like it.

One thing re: the "polls are wrong again" discourse is that comparisons to this point in 2020 are not going to mean much. Biden had just stomped Trump in the first debate on 9/29, then Orange Man announced he had Covid on 10/2. All of these red state Senate races tightened from there. 1/

In Ohio, Alaska and Texas, the Democrats are all over 47.5%, with Talarico at 49%. There's a much more plausible path from there to victory. If those races tighten this month, I'll be the first one to say hey, looks like there was another mirage. 4/

But there's no particular reason to expect things to tighten. If anything, the president seems determined to make the environment for the GOP an abattoir of epic proportions and if I was going to put money on something it would be on D leads getting bigger. 5/

2020 was a uniquely weird time and we have a credible theory about why polls overstated Dems in that cycle. As I've noted elsewhere, even in red states where Dems looked competitive, their averages were generally in the mid-40s, as in Iowa where Theresa Greenfield was at 45.8 on election eve. 2/

That's why I'm not quite ready to buy into the Kansas hype with Hamilton at 46.5 in Nate Silver's average. Undecideds in Kansas are an overwhelmingly right-leaning bunch. 3/

Assuming a uniform national shift from 2022, here is my estimate of what gains Democrats could make in state legislatures. Right now they take AZ, WI, MN, MI. PA Senate likely. Some others in striking distance. Vibe coding caveats apply.

The coordinated campaign of claims about how the US has normalized Hormuz and thus has won the war isn't convincing anyone. Not only is the military operation unsustainable, it isn't addressing the cascading series of bottlenecks and shortages caused by the ongoing crisis. New for @thenation.com

The Phillies threw $300 million worth of starting pitchers and the Braves went with a bullpen game started by a guy with 72 career innings pitched and I'm sure you can imagine how this has worked out for the 2026 Philadelphia Phillies.

What a tragedy. One should be allowed to dismantle democracy piece by piece and deprive millions of people of core constitutional rights over the course of two decades and still vacation in peace!

Jesus Fucking Christ.

I had not seen this clip where Tammy Duckworth advises Democrats to "not impeach anybody," "get back to work" and "allow" Donald Trump to "save face" and I would just like to remind the senator from IL that the federal government took 4,000 Chicagoans and murdered a 38-year-old father last fall.
