Chicago people: I have two tickets for O Sees at Thalia Hall tomorrow night and I am unable to attend. Any of you nice people need to get your face obliterated? My treat.

Four years ago today, @neildegrassetyson.com asserted on “Real Time with Bill Maher” that unlike atomic bombs, “… modern nukes [thermonuclear bombs] don’t have the radiation problem … not in the way we used to have to worry about with fallout and all the rest of that.” This is categorically wrong.

Our show INCOMING has been nominated for a Signal Award for Best Writing in Fiction! This is very exciting, because awards are totally arbitrary unless I win them, in which case they are very important.

Featuring performances from Tracy Letts, Mary Elizabeth Ellis, Amy Landecker, David Pasquesi, Jon Cryer, Paul Adelstein, Nate Craig, Rusty Schwimmer, Marilu Henner, Tim Griffin, Betsy Brandt, and dozens of the best theatre actors in our hometown of Chicago!

An anthology fiction/thriller/comedy podcast based on the false alarm missile alert that freaked out a bunch of normally placid Hawaiians in 2018, INCOMING asks the existential question: What would YOU do with your last 20 minutes on Earth?

This is the new Everyone Is Twelve for anyone who ever attended CMJ

people would be a lot more skeptical of the current batch of tech guys if they spent time around underground music long enough to notice how many moronic, tedious drips act weird to overcompensate

Of all the things the US government has spent your taxpayer dollars on since 1940, nuclear weapons and weapons-related programs rank third after Social Security and all non-nuclear defense expenditures—incl. WWII, the Korean War, the Vietnam War, the Gulf War, and every subsequent military conflict.

What’s a thing from your area of expertise (or special interest) that you think it would behoove everyone else to know?

Impossible to accurately state how off-putting this guy’s whole deal is. He is like Vantablack paint for good vibes.

Jon made Vice bring him a certified check for some $ they owed us before he would open the gates and that was a very good call All our friends worked the ticket booths and loaded gear and Ward Gollings helped with the booking and John Humphrey and John Benetti managed the stages

I think it was $25 a day or $40 for both The night ended with me Jon and Mike picking up trash on Ogden at 1AM so we didn't get fined It was really just a small group of us in a one room office It was cool when big things like this weren't owned entirely by corporations

We had to buy Ghostface's plane tickets three times because, and I quote, "Ghost doesn't fly on small planes" I got Jon Brion to come by faxing (!) Largo until Flanagan called me

I got to meet Roky Erickson and Benmont Tench Dead Prez and Devin The Dude and all of their people were extremely nice Boredoms first show in the US in like 10 years I think Roky's first show outside of Texas in 25 years at least Probably the last Blue Cheer/Jose Gonzales double bill IMO

Happy Birthday to Mick Fleetwood, musician, songwriter, actor and co-founder of Fleetwood Mac born in Redruth, England 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿 79 years ago today. Favourite songs? #MickFleetwood

I spoke with award-winning journalist and author Stephen Kinzler about his definitive book "Poisoner In Chief: Sidney Gottlieb and the CIA Search for Mind Control". We talked about the CIA's infamous MK ULTRA program, and whether you know a little or a lot, I think your mind will be, well, blown.

Hey this is a thing I would like you to investigate

We busted our asses to make something human and special and hopefully diverting, and I would be thrilled if anyone over here on Bluesky gave it a shot. It’s perfect for 38 year olds, and absolutely no AI was used anywhere.

I think there are at least two powerful themes that conservative writers handle really well - the grief that comes with change and the struggle to preserve the good against the tide of humans’ worse natures. Modern conservatism is all-in on humans’ worse natures and thinks grief is for losers
