Octavia E. Butler’s novel “Parable of the Talents” depicts a dystopian United States run by Christian Nationalists. Their slogan is “Make America Great Again.” Published in 1998, many years before Trump’s political career, but this poem in the book prophesied Trump. (Poem from @zymplex.bsky.social)

It's like how people use to panic over polio and the measles, then for some weird reason they stopped talking about those diseases, and now we're talking about them again. This willful ignorance of cause & effect is literally killing us. How do we as a society even begin to fix this?

Happy Nowruz, New York City.   As Persian and other communities welcome the new year, I joined our team to learn about the Haft-seen table — a tradition rooted in renewal, reflection, and hope.   Wishing you all a new year filled with peace, light, and understanding.

“Beware lest your rule violate the commandments of God, and ye deliver your wards to the hands of the robber. By them ye rule, by their means ye subsist, by their aid ye conquer. Yet how disdainfully ye look upon them! How strange, how very strange!” -Bahá’u’lláh

It is not for him to pride himself who loveth his own country, but rather for him who loveth the whole world. The earth is but one country, and mankind its citizens. —BAHÁ’U’LLÁH

“The gift of God to this enlightened age is the knowledge of the oneness of mankind and the fundamental oneness of religion.” - ‘Abdu’l-Bahá #Bahai

Such a ruler will, with joy and gladness, turn his face towards, and extend his favors unto, the people of Bahá. He indeed is accounted in the sight of God as a jewel among men. Upon him rest forever the glory of God and the glory of all that dwell in the kingdom of His revelation....

For those of us not in the cult, this is what we hear when anyone from the Trump administration speaks. For the people in the back, this is satire and so well done…

“Be united, O concourse of the sovereigns of the world, for thereby will the tempest of discord be stilled amongst you, and your peoples find rest. Should any one among you take up arms against another, rise ye all against him, for this is naught but manifest justice.”—Bahá’u’lláh

This pretty much sums it it up. And tbh, it’s not just America. the Baha’i view is that human society in general is in a stage comparable to adolescence. We have the tools and information we need to advance to maturity, we just simply don’t want to yet.

PM of Albania having a good laugh with President of Azerbaijan and Macron about Trump repeatedly claiming that he ended the war between their two countries which were not at war with each other.

So he agrees the president is unhinged and unwell, even though he didn’t see it, but it doesn’t matter because some unnamed people on the other side are too? Did I get that right?
